For those who don't know, Shakir is a Volga Tatar. They are primarily Muslim, hence why he has this name. Between him and Marat Khusnutdinov, the future is looking bright for the Volga Tatars. The last one we had was Nail Yakupov, and we all know how that went...
because the max you can give a rookie is 925k. Performance bonuses are only rewarded if they hit them. It's a complicated process which I'm sure someone else can explain with ease (I simply don't know enough about it)

Ok, thanks for trying to explain it. At least I understand a bit now.
pretty sure when there's a k in front of an h in russian to english, the k is silent
so it's actually Moo-hawm-uh-doolin
Sort of. This "kh" combination is the closest thing Russian has to the English H, but it's more in the back of the mouth, similar to the "ch" in the Scottish "loch" and German "achtung". In Russian it's written as a single letter - X.
Of course none of this has any bearing on whether it's a good signing or not. Hopefully we'll get to see him play in an international tournament soon so we can see if he's as good as his name.
