Description
Explanations:

Giroux - I think this is the type of package the flyers could get for Giroux as a rental. A 1st, roster player and top prospect. I just chose the leafs cause this type of player would take them over the edge in the playoffs. Plus Wayne and G back together would be fun.

Brassard- really could be any team, he's been decent in an extended role this year. Could even see it being a 3rd back for him.

Risto - Look I know everyone rips the guy but hear me out. Clearly he is still highly valued in NHL circles. I also think his size and physical play would be great in the playoff. Again this is more of the package I think it would be. Prospect and a 2nd. Idk if panthers are the best choice but again could be a number of different teams (jets were willing to pay their 1st at the last draft but flyers pick was higher so maybe jets?)

Braun - some might laugh at the price but he's very similar to Savard last year who got a 1st and a 4th. Braun is great in a middle or bottom role but has done good in a top role this year with Ellis out. I think lots of teams would be interested. I included jones because he's having a nice bounce back and teams can never have enough goalie depth.

OFFSEASON - I would look to off load JVR even at 50% and then back up the truck for someone like Johnny hockey. Issue with the flyers is they don't have superstar talent and at this point I think you need to buy it. Lots of long contracts and good middle pieces (TK Laughton Atkinson, lindblom) I would also use the new found draft capital to get another top end defenseman. Provy is closer to a #3 then a #1.

No one is paying that for Braun and Jones either.

Giroux would be amazing for our 3rd line, I think.

But not for that price.

He does not fit what our 3rd line is. Top 6 though with JT and Nylander yes. But then that means moving Kerfoot down and he has been fantastic in the top 6

Need to wait for Mikheyev to come back and see as rn I think a deadline focus should be getting Muzzin insurance (i.e. Gio)

Leafs would never be able to make Giroux's cap hit work, even at 50% retained. They'd need a 2nd team to retain an extra 25% but at that point we're starting to talk Miller like prices for the trade in total and Miller comes with term.

As a Habs fan with the Chiarot fiasco I can’t say Braun isn’t worth a 1st lol

Yeah, I see the biggest need for Toronto is another defence man that doesn’t have an offensive bone in his body, plays defence on the right side whether left-handed or right handed, that has Muzzin’s size and plays with a bit of snarl.

I was thinking go in and get Gio from Seattle at the deadline. Adding him would be perfect to that blue line

I guess my argument would be look at what foligno got last year... tell me Giroux is not a far better player

I mean that's fair, again like I said in the explanation maybe leafs aren't the best partner but that's the type of package it would take

Well I don't think the Caps will be buying a bottom 6 forward with what they have now, and I don't think they try and spend a 3rd on someone. Seems like a year more like 2018, when Kempny and Jerabek were the only pickups for small amounts.

I personally wouldn't trade anything for Brassard but that's not due to his value, just that I still hold a grudge against him from when he was in New York.

Easy decline for Edmonton. That's far from a reasonable ask... and why in earth would they want another goalie?
