it would be a huge failure for the canucks not to get a single first round pick out of boeser, horvat and miller

personally think strome is better than horvat. I hear they are already working on an extension

Ryan Strome better than Horvat? I haven't heard that take from anyone before you. I think Strome's next contract will come in the $5.5-5.75 million dollar range on a 4-6 year deal, I don't see him getting 6-6.5 million with term to be honest, I think Strome at a number of $6 million or higher four-plus years from now would look real ugly. He's a bonafied no. 2 centreman at best, and I haven't heard anything about the Rangers working to extend him

When Horvat is due for his next contract, the AAV will probably come in around the $6.5-7 million dollar range

It's the best way I felt I could make it work for the Rangers

Well, at least I didn't trade away any of their 1st rounders, but I got some mid-round draft capital and some veteran players to insulate the younger guys. I don't think I was too careless with how I managed my future assets or which present assets I targeted

Maybe 👍🏻🏒
It is amazing how many people think that other teams will just help out and take on salary. Cap space is going to be very valuable at the TDL this year I think.

I figured that, that's why I threw in those 3rd rounders to entice them. I think it's safe to say that the Kraken are building for the future rather than trying to win now so I can very much see the weaponize cap space to attain some additional future assets over the next several off-seasons

just feels like veteran guys and midround draft picks shouldn’t be what you’re trying to acquire in exchange for those players. acquiring trocheck and strome but no first rounders or prospects (specifically RD prospects) feels the team’s only marginally improving if it’s improving at all, since they just slot into the exact roles miller and horvat have already. if you’re going to sell, get futures and young players with potential.

I might do a more stripped down rebuild in the future. I'm not someone who typically likes to trade prospects with potential, I would rather trade actually draft picks when dealing with future assets, so I'm basically trying to refrain from asking for things in return that I would be reluctant to give up, but maybe I need to change my thinking to better get where I'm trying to go

Or three!! Each gets a 1st plus back in a deal. Very easily.

i could see them taking a second instead of a first to get a higher quality prospect in one of the trades which i don't think would be so bad but they should absolutely get at least two firsts if not more.
