Not bad,

the NASH trade is interesting and could work.
the LA trade is at least value from TOR, a high prospect, a 1st, a midlevel prospect, a quality 3rd pairing RD maybe a tad too much? But at least its too much from TOR for a change

I doubt DET wants UFA to be Engvall and certainly not for a 5th. Engvall is an good 4th liner, but hes going to be a 27 yr old UFA, looking for 1.25mil or more, I just dont think to a non playoff team he has value

Mayfield is a cheap RD signed for peanuts for 2 years and I think he has more value (Biega has none, a 6th rounder a yr away adds nothing and I think its a higher prospect or a 3rd rounder)

Detroit has zero interest in Engvall, Dermott, Holl, Ritchie, or Kerfoot. It's one of the these in every ACGM and we don't want them. Period.

Refreshingly coherent and pragmatic AGM

Kempe perfect fit for TML

Would be nice if LA could ret so they can keep Engvall

As an upgrade over simmonds

Who should be a fill in ideally

I wasn't too sure on what would be the best swap for Kempe, but I knew that LA has been on the lookout for a RD, and Holl can be expendable(ish). Maybe take away one of the prospects (Abramov most likely bc SDA got way more value than Abramov) and the deal would be just right?

As for engvall, I only got DET in there because they have cap. I don't necessarily think TOR will trade Engvall to a team within their division, especially when they're on the bubble for making the playoffs. Just wasn't sure which team would be the best fit. Either way, worst comes to worst, you can just send Engvall to the minors, and hope he doesn't get claimed. But, I'd rather trade him if you plan on taking him out of the lineup because if someone does claim him, we then lose him for nothing.

On Mayfield, well... he's reliable, something Justin Holl isn't. Lily has looked good with Muzzin, which has made Muzzin more confident when out there on the ice. Muzzin seemed to be doing most of the work when playing with Holl, which probably explains Muzzins lack of performance as he's pretty much burnt out. Lily allows Muzzin to relax a little, which I think creates a perfect 2nd pair behind Rielly and Brodie. With Mayfield though, he's a very good shutdown guy, and maybe having him paired with Sandin would benefit Sandin's game. From what I seen, Sandin is smart, and loves moving the puck, and both him and Lily on the 3rd pair are terrific together. Having Mayfield in the lineup can give you much-needed flexibility on how to create your lineup, as you can make your 2nd pair a strict shutdown pair with Muzz and Mayfield, or balance all three lines, like this:

Idea 1 - 2nd Pair Shutdown

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Mayfield
Sandin - Liljegren
Dermott

Idea 2 - Balanced

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Liljegren
Sandin - Mayfield
Dermott

Look, I'm sorry if I stretched your arsehole a little bit but I only got Engvall going to Detroit because I know they have Cap. If TOR trades Engvall, it will not be to a divisional rival. If you'd like I can change the team

Keeping Engvall still keeps them under the cap, but not by much. I removed the Engvall trade so you can see it now.

no part of this mayfield trade appeals to the islanders at all. it takes a lot more than that for them to move him

If your thinking Justin Holl and a 1st round pick, then my friend, you are sadly mistaken.

The value in the LA trade is fine, but aside from the 1st there's not much there that LA wants.

A first round pick is nice, but the Kings are coming out of their rebuild and are looking to compete sooner rather than later. A late 1st round pick isn't going to be NHL ready until 2024-25 at the absolute earliest. I can't see them targeting that pick as the main return for Kempe.

LA needs top six wingers and quality LHD that can help them sooner rather than later. The Kings have 0 interest in Holl (RHD is arguably the Kings' deepest position), and SDA doesn't do much for them, as they're already overloaded with bottom six forwards (especially centers). Abramov could potentially turn into a nice piece, but he's likely going to need several years of AHL development before he's NHL ready.

Kempe, on the other hand, is currently filling in at top line winger because of LA's shortage of NHL ready wings. The other area of need is LHD. I could see a trade built around a return of Robertson or Sandin, but aside from that, I don't see any situation where LA would be willing to trade Kempe to Toronto this year.

Hmmm, I thought someone told me that RD was LA's problem, hence why I put Holl in the trade

Nope. It was a temporary issue while Doughty and Walker were both out with injuries. But Doughty has returned early and Durzi has looked good at 3D so far. Next season, with Walker returning from injury, the Kings will have Doughty, Roy, Walker, Durzi, and Strand all as options, with guys like Grans, Faber, Spence, and Clarke (all RHD) potentially looking to make the jump. Holl would be a healthy scratch next season with a $2M cap hit.

doesn’t need to be that much, but for two nothing players and a sixth i’d much rather just keep him. he’s more valuable to the team than that.
