Marek and Elliotte discuss something briefly which I think is interesting and very true imo: the Oilers and Oilers FANS may be talking themselves into “we don’t have a goaltending issue.”

It’s nothing against their fans, the team, and the goalies (Kos, and Skinner/ Smith)… but you can’t help but think it’s gonna be April/ May and if there’s not a new goalie there’s gonna be regrets.

The isles struggles are self inflicted and mainly due to terrible coaching decisions. That doesn’t look like it’s going to change because Trotz cares more about making certain vets feel comfortable than winning games. It’s already unlikely they make the playoffs so might as well root for a high draft pick than a mid rd pick. Finishing that low in the standings should also lead to some much needed changes (breaking up the 4th line, adding a puck mover etc..)

Yeah but who knows when he comes back, the price is going to be exorbitant, and you are going to pay far too much for a name brand. Vitek and Sammy have been a great tandem, and Vitek's stats aren't totally reflective of his play as he faced some very tough opponents. I'd rather keep what we have than go out and overpay for a 34 year old goalie who costs a fortune, both in contract and trade price.
