that is what he says

What is? That Yakupov was an ass during the interview? Well, yeah, that's what he says and has said multiple times on multiple outlets and it's never been refuted.

There's video of him on draft day saying that they had Rielly ranked #1 if that's what you're referring to.

Question to everyone in here:

Now that around a quarter of this season has been played, given all we know now who is YOUR favorite for winning the cup?

Is Tampa still on course for the 3-peat or is someone else going to claim that title?

If Toronto keeps playing the way they are, they’re my top three to win the cup. They’ve got absolutely ZERO holes in their game. Right now, my favorite it Carolina, then Toronto and Florida.

So no, I don’t think tampa will 3-peat

Greg Harden was their biggest offseason addition.

If they can add a more offensive LW for the top six, move Kerfoot down a spot and add a more defensive Dman to pair with Muzzin, look out.

You poor sweet soul. In the end Tampa always prevails. They are inevitable. No one else will ever experience joy.

I’ve learned that you never ever bet against Tampa Bay. If I don’t expect them to lose, then I’ll only be pleasantly surprised when they eventually lose a playoff series a few years down the line.

Other than them, IMO the only teams with a real shot are Florida, Carolina, Colorado, Vegas, Washington, and maybe Edmonton*.

*Not because their team is well built or anything, but they have the 2 best offensive players of all time.

I know Kerfoot's current scoring pace is well above what is expected in terms of analytics, but he's been awesome on that line so far, as of rn I wouldn't look to add anything up front until Mikheyev get's about 20ish games next to Kampf and Kase. If Kerfoot slows down or Mikheyev doesn't play well then I would look to make a move up front. I think the absolute #1 priority is right shot top 4 dman. Either to play next to Muzzin, or play Brodie with Muzzin and have a guy to play with Reilly.

Damn, the Toronto hate frown. I get it though can't call a team with a core that is 0/5 in playoff series a cup contender, if they can get over that mental hurdle they could make a run though.

Right now, absolutely. But at the TDL I really hope they add another offensive weapon for the top 6

If they can make it work absolutely, but with limited cap space I guess what I'm saying is our #1 priority should be a top 4 dman over an offensive weapon.

Out of curiosity, what do you think will happen when Mrazek and Mikheyev come back? I think Engvall gets traded.

3 weeks, how is Vegas going to afford Eichel? They have 6.3 in cap space with Eichel and Wild Bill on LTIR

If the last two series told us anything, at least for me, defence is not an issue. Could not score against CLB or MTL. It gets really tight come playoff time. Top 6 FWD is the priority at least for me.

Not sure why I had to type that twice 🤦‍♂️

Engvall getting traded or sent to the Marlies still doesn’t create enough cap space for a 22 man roster. The thing to keep in mind is the holiday roster freeze comes into effect Dec 19. The Leafs would have to send down one of Liljegren/Sandin to get both guys off LTIR.

That makes Dec 19 the deadline to make a trade if they want to keep both guys on the roster for the western road trip and the 2 games after Christmas.

IMO one of Ritchie / Dermott / Holl will be traded

I’m all for dumping Ritchie anywhere lol.

That’s a very good point, I guess I can’t complain too much about the defense this year with our GA. I was basing it more off this year in terms of Holls play vs Kerfoot and Bunting as it is a different team, but you make a very good point about the last 2 playoffs.
