This season Makar has been a beast, Am I wrong to think there is 3+ better Right D in the NHL better than him?

I'd take Ekblad, Fox for sure...Carlson, McAvoy, Hamilton...all in the mix.

I think Fox, McAvoy, Makar and Ekblad are some of the best RD's, Carlson and Hamilton are slightly below

Agreed, only reason I'd say Makar is last among those 4 you mentioned above is because of his defensive game, while good it's not winning games like the other players are. I'd you look at game score value added Makar isn't even top 10.

After looking at the standings, Montreal and Arizona are easily the 2 worst teams in the league, Arizona has 12 points in 25 games ( ouch ) and Montreal has 15 points in 26 games. NYI and Ottawa also have 15 points but they have 6 and 3 games in hand on Montreal respectively

Ekblad is probably ahead of Makar right now, imo. Makar has a higher ceiling. Fox is right there, but, again, Makar has a higher ceiling. McAvoy is obviously better defensively, but Makar is far superior offensively. If the Norris voting happened today, Ekblad would/should win.

Right now 100% you go with Ekblad. If it was voted on today would Makar even be a finalist? I haven't watched Fox this year but just assume he's been great, Hedman leads dmen in points.

IMO Makar is the favorite right now tbh, followed by Ekblad, Hedman, Fox in that order.

Makar has an absurd 11G inn only 19GP. He carried the load offensively while MacKinnon was out of the lineup. There's also a lot of media hype in Makar's favor, much deserved. Crazy, but Hedmans' numbers could explode when Kucherov returns.

I've heard about Makar. I've seen Hedman and Ekblad. Haven't heard about Fox, just kinda assumed (silly me)

McDavid needs 4 goals in his next 3 games to join those guys, which for him is entirely reasonable. Kind of absurd that 2 of the 4 times it’s happened in the last 25 years are this season, and that could soon be 3 of 5.

I can only image how good these guys really are. As a goalie I played against Makar in the AJHL in 2016-2017 when he had 75pts in 50ish games as a dman. Guy was phenomenal. Played against him and now he's in the NHL and I'm talking about him on CapFriendly lmao.
