Initial Creation Date: Dec. 2, 2021

Description
I don't know how far off I might be on the trade values... But I like this as a jumping off point.
Trades
1.
COL
  1. Georgiev, Alexandar
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (STL)
NYR
  1. Compher, J.T.
  2. Francouz, Pavel
  3. Sherwood, Kiefer
Additional Details:
Compher fills the hole left by Sammy Blais' injury... Francouz is a quality backup when healthy. Shesterkin has been amazing, and really doesn't need more than a guy like Francouz behind him.
2.
COL
  1. DeBrusk, Jake
  2. 2023 4th round pick (BOS)
BOS
3.
MTL
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (COL)

Kulak is an overpay. Habs would probably be happy with a 4th. But if you want to give a 2nd they will take that

Man.. I almost had Kulak for a 3rd, but I didn't want to undervalue him. lol

I'd like to see us bring in someone else like calvert. Our line 4 last year and the previous year was really strong with calvert belly nieto and our 4th line now has no presence. If oconnor is going to be playing up the lineup i think we need more sand paper on line 4.

I think they're getting a lot of that out of Nic Aube-Kubel. He's a buzzsaw out there. I like the chemistry he and Jost have... And Darren Helm has been a revelation on the PK. I like way their fourth line looks when they're at full health, we just haven't seen that this year so far.

Georgiev has been awful. I might take a flyer on him as an addition to Kuemper and Francouz, but I wouldn't trade the latter and rely on him.

I like the DeBrusk addition, but I'm not sure the trade makes sense. If it's Compher and a kicker, then I'm in. Not sure I want to give up a couple good prospects though, and I'm also not sure Boston would be looking for just futures.

Kulak for cheap (like a 4th or 5th) is fine I guess. My biggest concern here would be cap space and whether it could be better utilized elsewhere. Plus I feel like Johnson, Murray, and MacDonald give the team pretty decent depth options when there are injuries.

Overall I think you are focused on the right holes for the most part. The only one of these acquisitions I'm really in favor of though is the DeBrusk one.

DeBrusk doesn’t get a prospect like Helleson. Flip the picks or even bump it up to BOS and take Helleson out. Don’t see the pt of Kulak if there isn’t money being retained or a contract goes the other way.

Kulak would be a great acquisition provided Ryan Murray is out long-term. Last I read, it doesn't look good. Jack Johnson had an okay start, but he's not good enough to be in the top 6 full time. I'm not married to Kulak, but I was trying to find pending UFA's on a team that's probably not going to make the playoffs.

Maybe you could play around with some of the trade values, but I think Georgiev would have more success in Colorado. The Rangers leak scoring chances more than almost anyone. He'd be an upgrade on Frankie, and he's 25, and under team control after this season.

And yeah, I love the thought of Jake DeBrusk in an Avs jersey.

I'm not totally against Kulak. If they retain and it's cheap in terms of the asking price then okay I guess. It does depend on Murray's timeline though, which I don't think has been reported anywhere yet.

I disagree on Georgiev being an upgrade on Francouz. He hasn't played in quite a while, but when Frankie was healthy he was on his way to a starting job somewhere. Georgiev is trending hard in the opposite direction. I'd swap Johansson plus and take him as a third goalie to see if he can revive his career, but I'm not moving Francouz unless it's a very clear upgrade coming back. Georgiev is sadly not that this season.
