If you guys were out of the playoff run (I don't particularly think you will be mind you), you don't think the team would ask him and let him decide if he wants to go on a cup run?

I certainly think he's earned the respect from the organization to make the decision, but I would think he'd be allowed too.

If he specifically asks for a trade, then the Kings would oblige. However, he has said in interviews in the past that he respects players that play their entire careers with a single team. He's also working on moving up the ladder for most games played by teammates with Kopitar. They're about to pass Lindstrom and Draper and could potentially catch the Sedin twins if Brown signs an extension as expected.

If this was a Ray Bourque situation where he hadn't won a Cup yet and was looking to get one before he retired, then I'd say it was more likely. However, he already has two Cups under his belt. I expect he will stay in LA until he hangs them up.

Makes sense.

It was similar with Getzlaf last spring. I knew if he was playing this year he was resigning in Anaheim, but I wouldn't have been surprised nor begrudged him if he wanted to go on a couple month cup run.
