Kassian sucks and the bruins, along with everyone else know it. No interest.

Why would the habs take on a negative value asset in Turris for moving up what 5 -10 places in the last 2 round of the draft. change the 6th to a 4th and not giving the 7th back and they may think about it

Oilers say no to the buf trade.

The guy is 12-2-0 and there's still a segment of Oilers fans who want to trade him for a bag of pucks. SMH.

What does DeBrusk bring that Kassian doesn't?

IMO:

DeBrusk = 25-year-old potential 30-goal scoring top six LW, if playing with high-end C. High intensity and good offensive production in past playoffs. Currently an ineffective and very expensive bottom-six forward. These days, occasionally a healthy scratch. Quite weak if played at RW or C. May have defensive deficiencies in his game.

Kassian = 30-year-old power forward, capable of playing top or bottom six RW. Career high 15-goals, but more realistically 8-12 goal potential. Willing and capable of dropping the gloves with true heavy-weights. Seems to have learned more discipline and become a more effective agitator. Can sub in as net-front presence, and has been a sub in penalty killer as well. When he is at his best, he is an emotional leader who loves to throw his weight around and can play a strong support role for elite talents. Can be a game changer. Most nights he is not at his best. Perhaps a bit too much salary and term given his inconsistencies and recent injury history.

I would not do this trade if I was Ken Holland. The Oilers top six is already an offensive juggernaut, what Dave Tippett needs is a bottom six that can contribute more offensively and button up its defensive play. DeBrusk is not the solution for Edmonton. He has a boatload of talent, and should be playing top-six minutes somewhere, but not for the Oilers.

Easy
Defensive Zone Faceoffs
Outside Dvorak no one on MTL consistently wins them

We need DZF 4th line Center to play with Poehling who's been limited in his faceoff time as Dvorak's been double shifting taking the faceoff then skating off to tag Poehling in.
Putting Turris-Poehling-Armia together makes sense even if its not every game
It gives Poehling the insurance he needs and takes the stress off Dvorak defensively so he can shoot more

Turris also has no Cap hit to speak of and most important MTL is getting a 7th upgraded to a 6th for it
He's 10x better then Paquette who we could finally ditch if Turris was here as Paquette looks lost in our speed based sysem he's just to slow with bad positioning

No offense but do you even know who Kyle Turris is? Because DZF 4th line centre is literally the last thing people would descirbe him as. Also

Poehling has taken more faceoffs than turris this year. Also has more points

Turris has is a career sub 50 percent faceoff man and has been heavily skewed into ozone deployment for most of his career.

Getting him to "replace" Paquette at this point is stupid because the only reason he will play going forward is if 3+ forwards are out.

Thanks, I was not expecting such an in-depth response. And I agree that a DeBrusk acquisition doesn't make sense for Edmonton for the reasons you stated. Tippett himself has said several times recently that they need to work on getting the GA down, they clearly don't need a one-dimensional scorer.

The one quibble I have with your response is your assertion that DeBrusk's scoring potential is so much higher than Kassian's. I don't agree - the difference you're seeing in past results was due to PP deployment rather than ability. If you look strictly at 5v5 scoring rates over the past 3+ years, you'll see a different picture.

18-19
DeBrusk: 17 goals (1.18 G/60)
Kassian: 12 goals (0.69 G/60)

19-20
D: 12 (0.86)
K: 15 (1.03)

20-21
D: 3 (0.36)
K: 2 (0.39)

21-22
D: 2 (0.54)
K: 3 (0.84)

You have to go back 3 years to find a time when DeBrusk scored at a higher rate than Kassian. Even if you take the aggregate of those 3.25 seasons (heavily weighted to the 1st one for DeBrusk) they are in the same range: 0.84 for DeBrusk vs 0.79 for Kassian.

So even looking at DeBrusk's one good dimension there's no daylight between them. Edmonton declines.
