Sharks probably don't do this because it isn't overly expensive to buy out Kane, or could even to retain half of his contract and ship him to a team with interest for a late round pick.

If Buffalo would retain 33%, Jeff Skinner isn’t an awful player at 6,000,000… I’m thinking both teams could benefit in some way by this swap.
