That's basically 3 firsts for Chychrun. So add Nemeth to the trade and give back a 2nd.

Would hate to see Lundkvist go. Rangers probably consider this.

The Lindholm and Perron extensions both look instantly regrettable, even if it's only Arizona. Perron has aged well, but I don't think he's going to get a huge pay day this off-season a la Alec Martinez, and I think everybody seems to overvalue Lindholm, he's worth $5.5 million AAV at most

I don't think this works cap-wise for the Rangers starting next year when Fox's contract kicks in.

They probably trade Nemeth in the deal. Trouba has been insane this year so maybe a team looks at him or we move Kreider even considering he's on pace for like 30-40 goals.

We are not spending assets to dump cap.

When we are not up against the cap.

      Try again.

Moving Kreider would be a huge mistake considering Laf may be a bust.

Lafreniere won’t be the top line player people expected. He’s formed a good energy and possession line with Chytil and Gauthier which is what a contending team needs. NYR is a top 4 LD from contending and possibly a 1RW.

Would you trade Fox for 3 1sts? Arizona values Chychrun just as highly

Ah I see the "X Ranger is a bust" people haven't learned from the Kakko situation. Laf was drafted less than a year and a half ago and is on a team with an established top 6 already. Takes time sometimes.

Wow I'd be so down for this trade as a Rangers fan. If that works for Arizona, it works for me.

From my observation he is doing everything right except when he gets the puck in the offensive zone. That’s where the play goes to die.

      0 indications Laf may bust

If anything it's looking like he'll be a 50-60 point 2nd line W in prime which, yeah fairly underwhelming, but always a possibility for a prospect of his level

Solid in the NHL as a teenager usually = that

      He's easily a solid 3rd liner now

      Still so young

Kakko has had a similar learning curve. First year he looked lost, second year he became a defensive machine, now in the third year his overall confidence has enabled his offense to thrive.

I have no qualms about Laf finding his groove as well. It just may not be this year, which is perfectly fine.

I think it's a very reasonable chychryn return but I wonder if Arizona might insist on a better asset as the crux of the deal much like Buf with Krebs for Eichel

I mean I personally see Lundkvy / Krebs as similar

Reckon az need to be overwhelmed for chych

if this is last year chychrun its closee but this year hes been bad. However arizona is also terrible. Personally i wouldn't make this trade. NYR top 4 is already good they just need a 3LD

To me, being overpaid does not necessarily equate to holding negative value, depending on how overpaid a player is

You think Lindholm should make less than Myers, who in your mind doesn’t have negative value.

I think Lindholm could fetch a 1st rounder in a trade, while Myers would only be able to fetch a 4th or a 5th rounder. Right there, I'm not assessing Myers as a negative asset, I'm simply classifying him as being less valuable compared to a defenseman like Lindholm at the right price, which I believe is around the 5.5 million AAV range. If a team overpaid for Lindholm in free agency and looked to trade him down the road, of course his trade value wouldn't be as high as it would if he was signed at a more reasonable number

I simply feel that 5.5 million AAV on a long-term contract is what I feel to be the ideal price for Lindholm, but there is of course a good chance that he is able to get more since there will most likely be a serious market for him this upcoming off-season. 6.5 million AAV certainly isn't brutal for him, but it also certainly wouldn't be my starting offer

I mean, Laf is not looking good. I promise you this isn't some Pens/Rangers hate. I'm not one of those type of hockey fans. I'm fan of hockey first and foremost. I'm always excited to see the next big player coming up and I'm not saying he's definitely a bust, but to say there's no warning signs is being short-sighted. He looks lost out there. The game is moving way too fast for him right now. Of course that could change, just look at Puljujarvi; he's a good example of a player who looked like a bust. I think the fact Laf was given the moniker of a "generational talent" (which I think gets thrown around too much anyway) set certain types of expectations and he's not living up to them. Generational Talents hit the ground running and he certainly hasn't.

My point is not that I think Laf will be a bust, but you have to consider it until he shows otherwise and moving Kreider prematurely could leave you with bigger voids. Chychrun is an absolute stud, but not really a NEED for the Rangers. He would be a luxury considering the Rangers have such a bright future on defense.
