Value seems fine

UFA ending 4 y deal tho not a fit for their timeline

The 15M excess in their big 4 deals really has to come off the books in order for them to be able to compete unless Eklund blows up which hey who knows

He is magical

But fair to assume they'll start that in '23ish earliest

I wonder what is the point for PHI to do this...they seem to be competing now, and this one makes them worse.

I don’t want to lose Weisblatt. We still don’t know his potential ceiling yet.

I think trading Labanc right now would be a cap dump and selling low. I rather not lose Weisblatt over that.

Labanc for a low draft pick if anyone is willing to take. (He still has term on his contract.)

ok but Konecny is only 24 y/o on a good contract. He's worth more than Weisblatt

I think they'll be sellers at the TDL -- they should be.

This current 7-game losing streak they're on and a quarter of the season through has made it clear that they're not going to make it out alive of the brutal metro division. Too much competition.

Well if that's the case, then what's the point in acquiring Labanc? Just seems confusing to me. I'd rather get a haul of prospects for Konecny, or just keep him for future building, he's only 24.

Weisblatt's a very good prospect and Labanc is pretty much the same age as Konecny so if you're PHI you're (la)banking on a change of scenery doing him good.

Labanc's turning 26 next week, and there's a year difference in those contracts. Wiesblatt is looking good now, but he's bit of a question mark still.

Personally I think PHI has much more to lose here than SJ does.
