Arizona needs to be ruthless if they are going to become relevant again. First step should be to avoid taking on any more problems from other teams, forget weaponing cap space because it has backfired for the Coyotes. By 2023 most of their excessive dead weight should be purged, so management should be investing heavily in both pro and minor scouting staffs now, so that they are well equipped to put together a nucleus of strong prospects that can be bolstered with well thought out free agent acquisitions. Player development is also critically important for an organization that currently appears to be going absolutely nowhere. Invest heavily in the Tucson Road Runners and developing strong linkages with teams in the SHL, Ligaa, and other good European leagues. In the meantime, focus on icing an entertaining, if not winning, product. Heavy hitting, high-scoring, blatant pugilism, or all three; whatever it takes to sell at least as many tickets as they currently do. Just be honest, don't over commit, and realize there is no quick fix.
