Description
Accept the Facts the Isles are going no where. They are too old and they suck. I am sick of seeing Agm's where they give up a first rounder to get a winger or a defensemean. The isles are going to pick at the very least top 8 in the draft. Throwing away draft picks and assets is idiotic. The isles have to go through a retool. Trade off everything that is not nailed down. The isles fanbase has to embrace the pain for Shane lol.

Cannot see EDM moving Yamamoto, at least not for Varlamov.. but they could defo have interest in him. Also, do you see NYI trading anyone who is signed longer term?

Just trying to show how much the isles should sell of anything that has value and is not nailed down long term, thanks for the feedback

yes Edmonton does not do this trade. Varlamovs stats over the last 3 years a slightly better than Mikko and Smith however that was behind the best defensive team in that period as well. where mikko and smith are arguably behind one of the worst. I dont think this is as big of an upgrade as people think but definitely not worth yamo for sure

I agree they should re-tool, but they would never be in the position they’re in now if they kept Pelech-Pulock together. The defense last season wasn’t great outside of Pelech-Pulock.

EDM fans need to understand they have 2 back up goalie and they would be way better with a starter

He is playing for a bottom 5 team so stats doesn’t mean **** at this point
Sorokin & Varlamov are both starter goalies

The Oilers issue isn't goaltending, the Oilers issue is team defense. Short of getting a Hellebyuck or Vasilevskiy, the Oilers would gain more from improving the blue line than changing out the goalie.

1.) Varlamov may not offer a sure upgrade between the pipes, but he does have a demonstrated ability to put up elite goaltending during the playoffs. No guarantee he can do it again though.
2.) I doubt Yamamoto will be traded unless doing so brings a similar player who scores on a more consistent basis;
3.) Varlamov's contract becomes an issue if Edmonton is carrying his full cap hit next year;
4.) If Koskinen can continue his current level of performance, and Smith comes back strong, it makes no sense for the Oilers to shake up that duo;
5.) If Skinner puts up a handful of performances equal to what he has done this season, there is even less sense in changing up Edmonton's goaltending.

Plus the Oilers already have 2 goalies under contract for next year. Unless Smith unexpectedly retires, they likely aren't in the market for another goalie either at the deadline or in the summer.

That's funny. Sorokin is playing for the same team but is putting up much better stats. Maybe stats tell us something regardless of the team?

Sorokin: .929 (14 starts)
Varlamov: .881 (4 starts)

Oooo, he's bad and he's only started 4 games this year. NOT a starter.

Edmonton has 3 starters. Montreal is the team without a starter.

Talbot was your last starter, that must suck. But you got McDavid and Draisaitl, who’s our last good forward ? Turgeon Damphousse lmao

Absolutely

Not sure why the replies are so intense here

For such a mostly reasonable AGM here

The issue is the generous returns for the NYI depth

Trotz/Lou value them way more than other mgmt
