Leafs aren't trading a 20 minute a night RHD for nothing.

He'd been healthy scratched several times this season. I see Leafs fans propose almost this exact trade like 5 times a day lmao

if chariot is a 1st, Holl is a 1st+ because he wont get you a bunch of cross checking penalties or screen your goalie on every shot

Leafs have been wise, Exchanging Dmen for three spots, keeping everyone fresh and ready. Teams need seven or eight Dmen to get through a season. Certainly the Leafs aren't trading an NHL Dmen without getting a better one back.
You've (and me) have reading these foolish Leafs trades trading Holl/Dermot/Liljegren. Holl for instance plays 20 minutes a night, (that's makes him top 4 RHD) is minute PK guy. Leafs are 8th in PK and 2nd in GAA this year. Holl is a 2m great value this year and next.

The healthy scratches were mainly to rotate Sandin, Liljegren, Dermott and Holl in 3 spots. Holl did struggle a bit early in the season and also was under weight making people speculate that he has been not well.

Holl's not an allstar but also isn't a dog like some make him out to be.

All reasonable enough. I'd figured if he's a guy they're willing to rotate in that group that the Leafs would try to shed his salary out of the bunch in order to chase a top-6 F at the TDL, while also maybe looking into a cheap, somewhat equivalent option at D. But y'all watch the Leafs more than I do so I'll assume it fair that he isn't being moved right now

I think that would be the thing that I have a different perspective on than you...I think Dubas would move Holl + ?? for a somewhat better option at D. If not then I think the savings to trade a player only making $2 MIL and fits in with the guys in the locker room for a player that could adversely affect the fantastic team chemistry for only half a MIL or so is too big a risk to simply stay the same skill/talent-wise.
