Could see Boeser going to arbitration, 1-2 year award around $6.5m.
Offensive/skilled top 6, shutdown 3rd line, crash & bang 4th line. Defencemen that can actually defend. See what Ian Clark can do with Van native Martin Jones.
Bubble playoff team in 2023 (~95 pts based on WAR), maybe better with a coach like Boudreau.
3 1st round picks over 2 years, cap flexible ($3.5m) in the short term, and ~$24m in 2023 to re-sign Boeser, Horvat, Hoglander and some foward depth. Hopefully grab one of the top RD (Nemec, Jiricek) in the draft.
25% retained, 2022 deadline deal, Avs get 2 cracks at a run with Miller, Barron unlikely to crack a loaded Avs blue line, Compher comes back to help if Avs want to make another minor deal
The Merrill and Pysyk extensions are huge overpayments, like, I don't even think Benning would give them that much money. Heck, even the Jarnkrok extension is a bit rich, but I could realistically see it happening

Hence the short 2 year deals... stopgaps while we develop young RD through the draft.

I suppose, maybe the extra money works as incentive to shelter the young guns, although it still hurts to be walking Boeser straight to free agency even if he is never the same player he use to be
Barron almost cracked the line up this year. Plan is to season for a year in the A playing top minutes and slot next year in the bottom 4. Looked good in his audition earlier this year. Change the 1st to a 2nd and I vote yes.

Miller won't go for anything less than a 1st + top prospect. We traded a 1st & 3rd for him to begin with and his value's skyrocketed since then.
PPG player, heavy, plays wing and centre, PP and PK, amazing contract for 2 more years. Avs balking at a 1st would be laughable when there will be 5+ teams lining up for his services.
