Gee, it's hardly a Kordic for Courtnall comparison. Wilson was infinitely better hockey player than Kordic. Courtnall at the time wasn't playing well for the Leafs, Nylander was the best Leaf in last years playoffs.
But lets go back to the history of the Kordic trade. The game before the trade the Oilers had come into MLG and manhandled the Leafs, and targeted Borje Salming. Remember her the trade was made in the mid 80s where fighters were a necessary part of the game/team. So the Leafs traded for Kordic whihdc for that year and especially the next gave the Leafs necessary toughness.
Personally I don't think the trade ws a bad as many make out.

I guess that is what I don't get. I think everyone realizes that Nylander is the better player but they still prefer a throw back style player who can sometimes 'will' the puck in the net whereas on a scoring chance Nylander will rarely miss but also will never throw the big hit or fight.

Just testing the climate here one last time this season.

What exactly makes Nylander the better player? Wilson provides way more intangibles, cost less, and has just as good production

1. Obv acquiring an enforcer is one of the easiest things ever and shouldn't come at the cost of a promising 23 year old, who hit 40-70 points yearly

Dave Semenko was traded for a late 3rd in 1986 when he was 2x as coveted an enforcer as Kordic, had two Stanley cup rings and hit 20ish points yearly

2. The league using enforcers to 'pol*ce' the league instead of department of player safety discipline, was a human rights violation and completely misguided

Now, I didn't defend the trade as you suggest but your hate for my assessment seems to clouded your judgement what I actually wrote.

I guess I was looking at the goal production of Nylander while being 2 years younger compared to Wilson's which isn't an exact science but is basically my level of skill in comparing players. I was kind of hoping that those folks here who compare Corsi, etc could give a perspective:

...but I agree with the intangibles of Wilson as well as being $1.8 MIL cheaper. A few years ago I think every Leaf fan would have made the trade. Now with how Nylander is playing (like being on the PP1 as well as the PK, back checking, etc which I hadn't seen out of him ever before) I don't think it is a slam dunk anymore. I haven't had chance to watch many Washington games this year so I don't know how complete a player Wilson is in comparison. But I also am a biased Leaf fan and I really appreciate the perspective of others being shared in a decent manner like this.

Yeah, that was tragic. I remember reading how his coach would join him on the roof and talk him down. The addictions were brutal.
