Hertl and Kane don’t get alone. That said, sharks don’t want that retune anyway.

Kane is a very negative value even at half retained. He still has 3+ seasons left and has been a locker room issues on multiple teams. He's a guy you sign to a $1m x 1 deal and hope it works out, but if it doesn't you tell him to go sit at home and collect a paycheck.

It'll cost SJS more to dump Kane than it cost TB to dump TJ. It actually eats away at a lot of Hertl's value and SJS only ends up with a 2nd or 3rd for the both of them. Also it's being said Hertl can't stand Kane, so no chance he'd re-sign in MN.

SJS will either keep Kane buried and try to get a mutual contract cancelation or buy him out this offseason.
