Yeah but with or without Weber you should still remove Petry, Eddy, Anderson, Byron and Price for today's line up. It's not because Weber isn't there that we're bad, we just can't stay healthy a second.

their key players are old and declining. injury prone too. not much center or defensive depth either.

everyone is overrated.

they rode a hot streak and most of the media and fans believed thats what the team's average performance is, when really it was a peak.

Toffoli and Petry also were very hot last year in general and that was bound to regress to a mean a bit.

Caufield also isn't half as good as the absurd levels of overhype. He still has potential, of course, but he should be in the AHL and not have ever appeared in a Calder spotlight.

I called them out on this throughout last year, but apparently you aren't allowed to say anything bad about caufield or the habs without being a "habs hater", but here we are a year later and its all happening right as expected. There's nothing surprising about their performance at all, IMO.

gonna disagree with some of those points...

not everyone was overrated but a couple very important players were
hot streak 100% true

toffoli had a 44 goal pace. zero chance he was gonna hit that again lmao
petry had a 63 point pace. again, zero chance he was gonna hit that again at 34 and older

caufield got put in the spotlight too soon. blaming MB for that

those are the three that i can think of off the top of my head (mostly because you talked about it lol). not everyone, but those three were very significant overrates.
then gally fell off a cliff, weber was hurt, savard didnt fit very well, and half the team got hurt

3 of our 4 best dman are injured. (Weber and Edmundson did not play yet and Petry played injured since the start of the season). Also, Price is not there too.

Will agree on Toffoli and Caufield, Petry though is another story IMO. He was always a 40-45 point D man and while being on pace for 60+ was an anomaly there was no reason to believe (and still isn't) that he would suddenly fall this far. Caufield's usage like many before him is still up and down, he will get there though and should just be allowed to play top 6 regardless of production especially this year since it is lost anyway. This is the perfect year to just left him play with no pressure to develop at the pro level.

The biggest issue though IMO is still coaching, there isn't a working system for our current lineup and the coach seems to think it is the players that need to adapt to the system instead of adapting the system to fit the players.
