Description

Let me get this off of my chest: This is VERY unrealistic and while I can see the Leafs getting another top 6 forward, I think it will be a rental and I think we keep one of Dermott and Holl.

However, these trades fill all of the Leafs' needs and make them even more of a contender than they already have been.

The top 6 is among the best in the league and the bottom 6 is still scary too.

They now have one of the best shutdown pairings in the league in Muzzin/Tanev, not to mention the other 4 are all very solid.

When healthy, the goaltending is elite.

Sure, there are not many draft picks left, but we are keeping the 1st and 2nd for this year so we are hopefully getting at least 2 good/very good prospects.

I didn't sign Niemela yet because once he comes over to NA, he will most likely spend a year in the AHL, so it would be wise to plan him joining the Leafs when the contracts of Brodie, Muzzin, and Tanev all expire.

Also, Matthews is on the PK because his defensive stats this year have been amazing and I can see him going the Nylander route and giving it a shot. If he becomes a regular penalty killer, he will be a contender for the Selke for the years to come.

Have you looked at the standings recently? Flames don't consider that. That's not even a starting block for Tanev right now

That is another main factor in this trade, but this is in the offseason, so MAYBE? The only reason I made this trade is I really wanted Tanev when he was a FA, then when I thought the Leafs were trading Rielly.
