Just because Clare didn't get selected doesn't mean his stock is low. Pretty much the entirety of the hockey world, minus the deluded GM of Hockey Canada, is on the same page as us. He should be on that team. He's been on fire in the OHL and selected as captain. Kings will not part with the most dynamic defensive prospect they've had since they selected Doughty. And in the meantime, Durzi is a good stop-gap for a team that is looking to push the envelope for playoffs this year (probably won't happen, but they're trying to be a competitive team moving out of the rebuild phase) so that their prospects can feel what late season meaningful games are.
I am with you 100% on Clarke. His stock hasn't gone down a bit in my view. Hopefully, he comes out with something to prove in 2nd half.

I like Faber, Grans and Spence but some people are going to be pushed out. I could see them dangling someone for a trade in a year or two after they see more of what they've got. Faber has yet to play pro, so I doubt they'll trade him without seeing him at least in the AHL.
As far as needs, the Kings need a top-flight LD (someone that is a tier above Anderson and Bjornfot) and top-6 scoring wings. I'm not sure I see anyone in the New Jersey system that the Devils would be willing to part with that fits the bill. Talking a Holtz type prospect or an established stud winger. It would obviously be a package for something like that, but the Kings have the assets to put together a compelling package.
Devils are in no rush either, probably similar timeline to Kings. Faber I have seen play a lot, which is why I like him.
Devils are deep in prospects at LD.
- Luke Hughes, likely stays put
- Shakir Mukhamadullin, also like stays put unless significant return
- Nikita Okhotiuk, defensive LD who has always been good in own zone. Very physical...hits like a human rocket. And greatly improved puck skills this year.
- Kevin Bahl. Big, two-way defender that needs work on some little things like getting shots on net from point. High ceiling.
- Ethan Edwards - smaller LD, solid all-around game. Plays a little chippy, with an edge. Same class as Hughes at Michigan.
- Daniil Misyul - Pretty good puck-mover nowadays in KHL, but likely a run-of-mill LD on most NHL rosters.
- Michael Vukojovich - a project. Size, speed, skill...but needs to put it all together. Lower probability, higher range of outcomes (also childhood friend of Jack and Clarke brothers)
For wingers, we have a bunch of wildcards. But after Holtz, few I could guarantee would be top-6.
- Alexander Holtz probably doesn't go anywhere.
- Graeme Clarke has been really good this year in AHL (and if you like the brother thing...). But he has history of injuries last few years.
- Nolan Foote is big body, big shot, but skating needs work. Very likely to be NHLer, but probably middle-sixer and PP specialist.
- Tyce Thompson - highly skilled, but skinny kid. Needs a year or two to fill out.
- Chase Stillman is probably more of high-end grinder or puck-retriever than top-6 option.
- Arseni Gritsyuk has been very good in his age-20 season in KHL, probably the fastest riser on our list. His numbers match elite company for his age.
- Jesper Boqvist is an older prospect and more of a center, but cheaper for trade.
Not sure what works for Faber (or Grans or Spence). Walker could even make sense for NJD for 2022-23 and 2023-24
