Evgeni Malkin is still one of the top 32 players in the league and now Vancouver’s best player, most marketable player and probably Captain.

He's 35 and has yet to play this season. We don't want damaged goods

Alex Ovechkin is the same age and he is having the best statistical season of his career.

Malkin will be electric as always when he returns and will be for at least a couple more years.

“Damaged goods” is crazy. He is the Canucks best player.

Why would Malkin not resign? He likely would. If he doesn’t, they get a 1st, but that’s irrelevant.

There are few teams he would waive for but I think he would for the Penguins.

Why would malkin resign in VAN he probably wants to compete as he already has the bag and VAN is in shamble rn so many better options that have the cap to sign him to more

Vancouver isn’t going to rebuild, they are going to retool. Malkin does that for them. A 1-2 Malkin-Pety punch is lethal. Plus Hughes. Plus Demko. Plus JT Miller and other good pieces. This team is going to be good under Bruce Boudreau who is an offensive style coach.

I agree but that’s still a really hard sell to malkin because of how bad there past couple years have been

IF you added Crosby you might have to think about accepting. 2-3 seasons of maybe winning followed by pain.

Malkin is a UFA haha. And hes 35. And he hasn't played a game this season. And he played poorly last season. And he has poor injury history. Terrible trade.

Bo Horvat's our Captain. Malkin is old and hasn't played this season. No way the Canucks make that trade.

1st off, Malkin can not be the best player on the Canucks if he is not on the ice. 2nd, he is a UFA next year and will want a big deal to end career, makes zero sense for a retooling team to give a 36 year old 0layer a big contract, when they have younger players on big contracts and their cap is a mess. 3rd, I guess Petterson, Hughew are not good players when they are overshadowed by Malkin. This is not 2016, but 2021. Malkin is good, no doubt but he is getting older and all the wear and tear is catching up. OVI is a different player and style, he does not have the injury history that Malkin has and plays a different style. Comparing the two is crazy.

His “bad year” had a better PPG than anyone on the Canucks last year…

Best player on Van. Easy trade for Both teams. You are just plain dumb if you don’t think Malkin is still an elite player.

How’s that working out for you?

Sure, wait a few weeks once he has played a few games to verify he is still going to be by far and away your best player for years..

It’s actually not. They’re the same age, some nationality and I’m pretty sure if Vancouver gave him a C and $7.1 a year for 3 or 4 years he would sign and be the best player on the Canucks for 2 or 3 of those years.

Great deal for both teams.

Didn't say he wasn't elite. Why would a team trade 2 mid 20 yr old players for a 35 yr old? Malkin could decide to go to Russia next yr, He is a UFA after this season. It's a really bad proposal. I appreciate that you seem to love it but I don't see any reason any team would give up two 25 yr old top 6 players for a rental. Let alone than Malkin def does not make the Canucks contenders.
