I think it's relatively fair trade value. Kap is an RFA so they can retain him, Zucker has another year to match Tarasenko's, and it gives the Pens some roster flexibility after this season to go shopping for a guy like Radulov or Palat

The Blues will NOT be adding cap in any Tarasenko trade. Take out Zucker and start again from there.

Why does Zucker keep getting traded as if he had positive value?

Blues say no. Not only do they have a plethora of RW, but Zucker and Kap adds cap to the Blues.

28 points in his last 63 games. That's still 2LW production. He just doesn't have any chemistry in Pittsburgh. Playing in a different system with different players, GMs could see a fit.

I find it interesting that Blues fans are so against absolutely loading up their top 9 for a playoff run or 2.

I feel like that's one of the better packages you're going to get on a player who has requested a trade. Pens can take another scrub if you need to even out the cap.
Replace Perron next season with Kapanen, have Zucker for 2nd or 3rd line LW.

He has 1 goal in his last 16 games. he has a 5% shooting percentage. Now he isn't a bad player but he's barely worth half his cap hit. Pens will have to pay to get rid of him

He's also a career 12% shooter, so acquiring him, any smart GM is going to bank on his 5% shooting percentage to regress back to normal. I don't think he just all of a sudden became a 5% shooter. It's possible, but not likely, IMO. I could be wrong though. Sometimes change in scenery help jump start those types of changes as well (ie: Perron to Anaheim went from a 4% shooter with Pens to 14% with Ducks) There's always some risk involved in a trade.

Not to mention, I think Kapanen is the actual real key to this trade, given he's an RFA and will be a cost controlled RW for the next 3-5 years.

agreed, I don't see the Blues making a move unless it's for a top-4 LHD OR Perron's most recent concussion ends his season.

Is that the Blues weak spot, top 4LD? Can I interest you in a Mike Matheson? (LOL I know the answer is no.)

You know what.. I'd probably make this trade. Kapanen+Petterson for Tarasenko? I think as a Pens fan, I pull the trigger on that.
