It just doesn't make sense for Colorado. They aren't moving Girard this year, full stop, and they won't take Price unless it's an absolute steal (as in cheap to acquire and an AAV that is even lower than what you have here).

They like Kuemper. He hasn't been great yet, but he's 15 games in and playing behind an injured and currently mistake prone team. Unless he gets hurt and is done for the year, or something magical arises, then he's the guy.

And at 50% retained Price is still over paid, they can give that 5.5m to Kuemper or another starting goalie, maybe even MAF on a short deal, and dont have to dela with 4 years of Price continuing his rapdi decline. Statistically he has been one of the worst starting goalies in the league over the past 4 years, its mind boggling that montreal fans think that one of the most analytical savy teams would move prime assets for Price. Dallas has 4 capable goalies. Colorado will target one of them. They don't need Price.

Colorado doesn't want a 5.5 contract until 2026, since Price will not be worth that much for that long. We want to win now while also playing it safe. This trade does NONE of that.

Also, forget about Girard going. Only chance I would trade him for a forward would be for someone like Buchnevich or Boeser.

I don't think it's a bad offer. Tough to move Price and as much as he has his issues, we saw in last year's playoffs what he can do with his back against the wall. He can be a game-changer. They also land Toffoli who could be lethal in COL's top 6.

This ain't the type of trade MTL would be looking for if Price chooses to move on. Likely something with picks and prospects instead of roster players and if roster players were involved it would just be to counter the cap going the other way.

If Price had 2 years left, I would take the offer, yes. Price will be playing until 2026, and sure, he might have a few good years left in him, but there's no way he's going to be a #1 by 2025. The Avs need to re-sign MacKinnon, Byram, and others as well.

Price is a future liability and we need to re-sign MacKinnon, "win-now" doesn't mean "all or nothing".

I think if a team want to win now, its better to try to win it once, rather than finishing 1st in the division 4 years in a row and losing in the first round. All in. Maybe thats why I just play in a beer league

I love coming on here and reading trade ideas and seeing fans opinions. But MTL ACGM’s have just been spamming bs Price to COL trades or Girard to MTL that make no sense and it’s almost copy paste. It’s stupid.
