Redo the Offseason

Created by: KMarner10
Team: 2021-22 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 7, 2021
Published: Dec. 7, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Islanders have been the complete opposite of what everyone thought they would be, especially coming off of back-to-back 3rd round exits.

A big key in that has been their offseason, and it all started with them choosing to protect Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck over Josh Bailey and Jordan Eberle - in this Eberle and Bailey are protected -.

Also, I will admit that they have had some really bad luck to start out the year, with the 13-game road trip and then the COVID outbreak.

However, they have to turn it around if they want to make a push, and they have to start getting results by the end of the week or it will be too difficult to come back.

Note: I wanted to get Leddy back, but I think the Ratu pick was amazing

    Doesn't really make them better.

You still have Chara in the lineup who is the worst player on the roster.

I was about to send him into oblivion and keep in Salo but I haven't really watched them this year. He has played in 17 games with 2 assists and 27(!) penalty minutes, but I thought he would have been sat more if he was playing that bad.

Not if they were protected instead of Clutterbuck and Martin

He has been a disaster, just cannot skate and keep up with players any more.

This is Trotz's style though and the thing that really angers fans. He will play vets over young players who are just better players. Dobson now that he is getting expanded playing time looks like the top pairing D-Man fans thought he could be, but prior to injuries and Covid he was playing the least minutes. An ideal healthy D-Corps would be:

    Pelech-Pulock
    Greene-Dobson
    Salo-Mayifled

Unfortunately even with Eberle on the team they would still be in the position they’re in. Trotz still thinks chara is #1 defenseman which is been killing the isles.
