When will habs fans understand they need to take long term money back from Edmonton to make it work?

To answer your question......Never.

When the title was "Stack em up", I thought it pertained to the lineup of GMs that would be fired for making those trades.

In THEORY I get what you're doing with the Pens trade and personally I probably make that trade. The reality however is much different and this is all public knowledge from Hextall which he's mentioned in more than couple of interviews/statements:

1) He will not add sweetener to any trade as incentive for other teams to take any of our players and his actions since last season speak to this. Obviously the 1st here is partially incentive to take Zucker and Matheson.
2) The Pens' 1st and 2nd rounders are completely off limits, so any deals including them are basically non-starters. Can a GM change his mind? Sure, but as of right now, even in current interviews he's indicated there's been no such changing of the his mind.

So again, me personally? This is probably the first trade I've seen on here where I've though Hextall should go back on his word and break those two rules. The Anderson contract has disgusting term, but by the time it looks really bad, the Sid/Geno era will be all but done, so it gets my thumbs up, but probably not Hexy's lol

Poulin is also a super mediocre prospect, so you can keep him lol

Don’t think the Oilers want to trade for an older goalie with injury issues and lots of term on his deal.

The fact that you are taking one of our top prospects and multiple 1st rounders makes it that much more of a no.

They won’t. They will continue to post outlandish ACGM’s that not even that really high guy from college who was also probably doing psychedelic drugs would say is good.

About the same time Oilers fans figure out that it is NOT the Habs responsibility to solve the Oilers cap issues! The Oilers have to figure that out themselves.

I get that Price is expensive. However IF (IF IF IF) a Price trade were to materialize, it would take at least a solid prospect or a 1st to get him.
Then you have to account for the retention. You're looking at multiple picks for even 25% retention. You could argue it's Montreal's responsibility to absorb some of the cost, but anything past $8M should be compensated for. A 1st alone doesn't cover it.
That leaves Lehkonen retained plus a 3rd and 4th (plus the remainder of the retention value), for the other 1st.
Koskinen is of no value to Montreal, so can be shipped elsewhere for whatever.

You can argue that Edmonton shouldn't do it, for any number of reasons, but the value alone isn't unreasonable.

the person you're describing must be similar to you when you created that screen name and said to yourself... Yup, that's the one.

Caps are better off without that Petry trade. Schultz is perfectly fine in his role and giving up a 1st is too much for an upgrade to the 3rd pairing (even with lines being cycled fairly easily)

Did you mean to include Suzuki (50% retained) and Caufield in the Edmonton deal? It's pretty unrealistic otherwise.
