Nobody has a problem involving prospects and futures in trades as long as they get good value for them. But when theres 10 lopsided Price to COL for Girard/Newhook/1st/Kuemper trades posted here every day it gets kinda old. This post isnt as bad as the others but theres still nothing in this package that is worth a prospect of Newhook's caliber

Good prospects get traded for good players. None of the players COL is acquiring here are playing well this season. Newhook is the type of prospect that would be moved for a guy like Hertl, not for Petry/Drouin/Chiarot

EJ is a cap dump because as with the trade in question above, he is being moved at 6m whereas drouin is being 50% retained, aka NOT a cap dump.

Hertl is not even playing well this season either tho so 🤷‍♂️

True but this trade doesn’t make the defense appreciably better if everybody is healthy, it diminishes the c depth short and long term, and doesn’t necessarily make the wing any better because on the Avs Drouin right now is a 3rd line wing. Long term it kills any flexibility the Avs have cap wise removes the chance of adding talent in the 1st rd until 2024 and removes the the future 2C. The Avs would be willing to move future pieces for an elite upgrade but this doesn’t do that. That’s entirely my opinion.

I agree with all of this, save for the fact that it kills them long term. Chiarot wldn't be signed next season, Drouin at 2.75m wld be a decent commodity at next years TDL if Joe wanted to move him and make more cap room. Petry at 6.25 for 3 more seasons could go either way, that I really have no clue about.
