Labanc has been in Boughners doghouse all year and was healthy scratched last night. He's run his course in SJ.

Rangers are short at centre position, but otherwise would consider it. Maybe combine into trade for Hertl?

We're not moving Hertl while we are still competitive. 4th in the division, 3 points behind Edmonton.

It would cost a lot more than Chytil to get Hertl.

No chance with that Labanc contract.
Plus the Rangers need Cs. And faceoffs. and PKing, and defensive play. a physical player.

See, its not a fit.

Rangers decline. We can't take on Lebanc's contract and we need Chytil more than another winger.

Do you want to acquire a better player with a lesser salary? Then yes you have to pay for that. Welcome to the big boy league

Trading a guy with 3 more years and a 2nd for a player who has 4 points this year is a little much for me. Not sure Chytil is all that most sharks fans think he is.

I know you’re not a Rangers fan but do you know why Chytil has been doing so poorly this season?

Well it's not like he was ever a game breaker. He's never eclipsed 23 points.

so 1 time in the nhl has he had any value. hes averaging under 1/4 ppg this year. for most of his young career so far hes around 1/4 ppg player. whole lotta meh right there. labanc is worth more for goal scoring abilities alone.

and the season before he averaged over 1/3 ppg. 22 is still very young. Too early into this season to think he'll continue this low production.

1/3 ppg isnt good. thats replacement level. this season hes on pace for his career average. i get 22 is young but its not like its his rookie year. hes played 210 games in the league. maybe he shocks everyone and becomes something more than he is right now. maybe he doesnt and the rangers ruined another promising young prospect.

sure if he had continued to build off it lets play a little game...

4 Players:

Player A: 72G 70A 142P 267GP

Player B: 47G 80A 127P 221GP

Player C: 37G 41A 78P 210GP

Player D: 65G 118A 183P 360GP

Out of the 4 who would you want and why?

I agree that Chytil was definitely the worst on that list, but he’s also the youngest by ~2.5 years. There’s a reason why Debrusk and Labanc have been in a lot of trade talks and why Strome has been benched so often. Chytil has the highest potential out of all of them.

I dont see it that way. I look at games played not at age. chytil has a similar games played to strome and significantly worse production. I havent seen anything from chytil that says hes going to be worth anything in the nhl.

you have to look at both though. guys like Kaprizov and Panarin (who, don't get me wrong, are insane players) who were rookies putting up a ppg in their first season would have had a lot more value if they were doing that at 18 instead of 23+. it would be dumb not to look at age.

another example would be Lafreniere. He has 29 points in 86 career games which is mediocre at best. If he was doing that at 35, it's not a guarantee he would even be in the league. He's 20 years old, though, which makes him a potential star winger. you have to take age into consideration.
