I’m aware that Necas plays RW with Carolina, but he can play center as well. He played center in the Czech Extraliga, he was drafted as a center, and he probably would’ve been groomed as a center had they not been able to get Trocheck. Since he’s one of the Czech’s big 6 forwards and 4 of them are wingers already, I think he plays center for the Olympics. As for Kempny & Zboril, I don’t think they make it. Kempny has been trash in the AHL this season and has almost zero mobility after all the damage his knee took and a re-injury of that knee is way too big of a concern. Zboril is a draft bust. He hasn’t been good when he’s played and I doubt the Czechs want anything to do with that. And with the Gudas thing, I’m sure he’ll end up being a regular at the end of it all as well, these are more just my opening game rosters more than anything.
It's not like they have actual good/great C (who have played at center regularly) like Krejci or Chytil so let's play someone who hasn't played there for years!
"Zboril is a draft bust"
-Dylan Strome drafted #3 in 2015, Middle-six player
-Lawson Crouse drafted #11 in 2015, Bottom-six player
-Haydn Fleury drafted #7 in 2014, 3rd pair D
-Valeri Nichushkin drafted #10 in 2013, Middle-six player
-Ryan Murray drafted #2 in 2012, 3rd pair D
-Calvin de Haan drafted #12 in 2009, 3rd pair D
Draft rank is irrelevant to the level of play currently. Sure, the player may not have lived up to expectations but the important thing is how he is playing now and Zboril has been great in the 10 games he's played this season. What makes you believe Ondrusek, Demel, Plutnar and Pavelka are better?
We'll agree to disagree on some picks but anyways, it's not like it will matter in February.
