At the VERY earliest, after his ELC. But I can't see him not getting even a bridge deal with New York

Unless there is retention probs not happening

His deal be a bit expensive and while he is doing well now so far he has not lived up to that contract. Dont want another OEL situation

COL just rolls with cheaper in house candidates at C next year with MacK, Newhook, Jost taking the top 3 spots and Maltsev and Bowers getting a shot as early this season to fill 4C.

Even on a discount, Strome signing will really put pressure on the Cap...in most scenarios with or without Strome they'll have to move Nemeth....with Strome they probably have to move one or two of Goodrow, Trouba, Kreider, Chytl....gonna be real tough to move Kreider or Trouba before 2024.
To make Chytl the sacrificial lamb would be a big mistake w/o an "A" prospect coming back and/or a 1st. And any lineup they put out with Goodrow penciled in as 3C is a downgrade to what they have now...Goodrow can play anywhere in a pinch- but reality is he's a 4th liner.

Interesting alternative trading Chytil. I'm not sure that's the right team, but the right idea, I think. My only argument against it comes with how Blais would perform in this year (I have to assume he will be on the 3rd line at the very least, and not the 4th line), to see if he would be a cost savings over Chytil in the following year. I guess he could always be let go, though. At the end of the day though, I'm hoping Chytil will eventually show that patience is a virtue and stays in the lineup. If he goes, just about all of our 1st round picks over the last few years have been wasted. Only Miller would remain, then (on the NHL side, anyway)

Theres no arguement that Chytil currently holds more value than Kaut.
I just think Avs need to see Kaut play at least 40 more NHL games before determining what his actual value is.
