Kane in NY would be interesting, but why in world are you over paying for Chiarot?

I saw rumors that’s says NY could be looking for depth for defense, and the way chiarot is playing he could help rangers run for playoffs

Depth dman don't go for a 1st and 3rd and take kakko out of Kane trade then maybe but if NY wouldn't trade kakko for eichel they aren't trading trading him for Kane

Savard was traded for a 1st + a pair of 3rd RD pick last TDL
Savard is a #6 dman

Chiarot is a legit top 4 making less than what Savard was doing and he is 10X better than him

Is it an overpay ? Yes. But a team WILL overpay for Chiarot but he is a good dman

Savard got a1,3&4 and only had a 1.05 cap hit for the lightning

MTL could do the same, retaining 50% and a 3rd team retain 50% of the remaining of is contract. But I think 1.75M will do it

Remember though RD like LHP in baseball is more valuable

If they did stupid short sighted **** like this they deserve to not win the cup. You don’t trade multiple young pieces from a rebuild for a 32 year old. They’re not as close to a cup as the record indicates. Still not even guaranteed to get to the playoffs. If anything getting a top 6 winger like Smith or Kessel would be better. At least it shows faith in the team and doesn’t destroy the youth they started to acquire.

I don’t think we’re in a position to be spending 1sts to load up yet. The record is misleading. The Sabres game is evidence of that. There've been a number of games they won that they had no business winning thanks to hot goaltending. I, not convinced they’d do much of anything if they got to the playoffs, hence my belief they need to keep things the same this year and further develop the young guys and see how things shake out.
