I agree with @csick on Dubois' contract. The trade is horrible for Winnipeg though and the Jets don't have the cap room for it.

IDK about 8 x 8 he is 23 and never even been close to a 80+ point center but your paying him like he is. I am NOT saying he won't get there (I actually hope he does) but maybe until he does you just bridge him at 6-7 mil. Just my opinion but pay for what he has done and not what you think he might do it will save you money and frustration in the long run cause not many players actually live up to projected contracts. If he manages to keep up his 80 point pace right now for the rest of the year then sure pay the guy his 8 x 8 at least he will have earned it.

When u have guys like Kevin Hayes getting paid 7, he’s going to get 8.

Yeah that is the problem with the league some GM's overvalued certain types of players. Take MB for instance he valued big, tough to play against D men and paid them like top 4 D men. Those Alzner, Chiarot, Savard, Benn, Schlemko types shouldn't be getting more than 2.5-3 mil per year and you shouldn't have more than 2 on your team. I don't know how you would fix the system either, there just seems to be a disconnect in how players should be paid.

I feel like it’s hard to even use this as a comp considering Coots just took what 7.75? I could see Dubois getting the same deal as Coots. Jets also have somewhat of a take less to win culture. Most deals have been signed at the right time, just before a player truly breaks out. Connor at 7.14, Ehlers at 6, Scheifele at 6.125, Pionk at 5.875, Hellebuyck at 6.1. A ton of fair deals.

I know it’s not necessarily a take less to win culture, more of opportunistic signings, but it at least allows the team to leverage that aspect.

I think Dubois ends up between 7-8 on a 7 year deal. If it was up to me. 7 years at 7.5 per year.

I'd rather have Armia than Vesalainen tbh, and I'm not an Armia fan at all

French media when he was in CBJ, that he hopes he gets traded to MTL. That’s why we were seeing the Kotkaniemi + 1st vs PLD trade forever

Yeah but I feel like that was more because he wanted out of Columbus. He’s also very clearly happy here, and his family is here as well. Would be very surprised if he doesn’t resign long term
