Just a test

Team: 2021-22 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 10, 2021
Published: Dec. 10, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I was listening to a podcast where it was suggested that maybe a little time in the AHL playing top 6 minutes would be good for Weatherby, if the Sharks opted for that option this would be a trade i think might be worth exploring.
Trades
SJS
  1. Rask, Victor
Additional Details:
Rask is slow but he makes plays and is the kind of center Labanc needs to get going. If nothing else it's a low cost look at a player who could help Labanc rebound his value for a possible trade deadline or off-season trade. Wild could retain a bit if Sharks have not yet accrued enough cap space to fit Rask.
MIN
  1. 2022 7th round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
This is a cap move for the Wild so that they can add at the deadline. Rask doesn't suck but he doesn't fit the Wilds current style of play.

Time in the AHL could be decent for Weatherby. He’s shown some decent results but he’s just been really inconsistent lately. Played great against the Flames imo then had a bad game against the wild. Not sure how I feel about rask though it’s a very low risk move but I can’t say I’m a big fan of his even if he’s an upgrade over Bonino offensively.

I don't see why they'd unload Rask unless they're looking to acquire 2 expensive players. The Wild can currently take on a player with a $8.7m cap hit at the deadline (slightly higher if they send someone down to accrue more cap space before the deadline). Better to just hold on to Rask for more depth in case you need him, the 7th isn't likely to ever play a NHL game and certainly doesn't help them in the playoffs this year.

Agreed about Weatherby. I personally wouldn't do this move if I'm DW.

Moving Rask also opens a roster spot, but yeah i see it as a more likely scenario Wild don't do much for trades this season unless they really hit the skids.

If they're picking up 2 deadline players, that makes sense. Otherwise Czuczman (who I forgot was on the roster) would just go back to Iowa and they can acquire a 23rd roster player for under $8.7m or so with Rask on the roster.

I was thinking of opening up a spot for Boldy and Rossi, but they can be black aces so that really doesn't hold water. To be honest probably not much reason to move Rask.
How about this idea. Wild trade Sturm. I like Sturm but don't know how the Wild will be able to re-sign him and he will be a UFA. Rossi is probably already as good as him. To the right team i bet Sturm returns a 1st or early 2nd. Thoughts on that?

If Rossi isn't ready for a top 6 role, he should be in Iowa until he is. They didn't use a #9 overall pick to get a 4C. That being said, I can't imagine Sturm will be THAT expensive to resign if he likes it here and even if he was, teams that are first in their conference don't typically trade away cheap depth that they can use for a playoff run. I really don't see the Wild trading away any players this deadline for picks, they'll be looking for trades to make the team immediately better. Maybe they move someone as part of a deal to bring in someone who might an upgrade, like JT Miller if the Canucks can't get back into the playoff picture. Leipold is going to want that playoff ticket sale revenue.
