The Leafs are going to take a very slow approach to this. They are in no hurry right now. Of course they want to go as far asap but they would rather take the "ShanaPlan" approach.

Keeping Martin, Boyle, Bozak for the next few years would be very essential. Getting rid of JVR and Komarov would benefit them because they can get more assets in return and slot in the players that are next in line.

I'll disagree with MrCap about getting assets in return for JVR and Komarov. Might need them all need year when the Leafs make a deep playoff runsmile Don't think the Leafs would have Komarov, JVR, Bozak on the team in the summer of 2018...time to move on and getting better value with their money. But if you can't get immediate help in the any trades, better keep them.
Willwatson: You sorta "laughed" at the Leafs having Martin. Martin is a needed player for the Leafs. Might not really show up on the score sheet, but he does have value.

JVR is overvalued??? Bozak too??? I do agree that they might be gone but JVR is one of the best contracts in the NHL and Bozak is about at value.

I'm saying there is no need trade them. Many Leaf fans think all Leafs UFAs have to be traded before their contracts expire. (this is a unique situation for the TML) At the end of JVR, Bozak and Komarov contracts, June 2018, I do not expect the Leafs to resign them though.

Leafs aren't going to let them walk, their smarter than that. JVR will probably get traded at some point in the next year. Komarov will most likely get traded in the summer because there is no point of him staying with them anymore. And Bozak stays put for awhile.

@ palhal, only catch of keeping Martin would be the likes of Leivo sitting out all the time.. I agree the grit helps but pairing up Boyle with a bit more of a scoring touch like Leivo night in and out would have a 4th line that can finish as well. In watching Martin, he can play the physical game but he has lost his scoring touch.
