Canucks 22-23

Created by: gordfish
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 12, 2021
Published: Dec. 12, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Rutherford builds from the centre out, this gives them 8 on the NHL roster that can play centre. They might be overpaying for Copp, but he's UFA...

If they miss on Nemec, take Chesley, even if they have to reach. I think he might be the better fit with Hughes, anyways.

Try to do the dame thing for 2023 and get as many draft picks in the first three rounds as they can. They need the organizational depth, especially on defense.

    So you’re saying:
    Boeser = Poolman and Motte
    Copp = Pettersson

Not a chance Canucks move Boeser for that little. How does Motte almost have as much value as him? Also overpaying Tierney + Copp

Rangers probably fine with Dryden Hunt over Motte if it would cost a second rounder

Weird, it says that the OP is a Canucks fan but Sens obviously take that and run. Boeser would actually fit perfectly

    Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson
    Formenton-Stutzle-Boeser
    Paul-Pinto-Brown
    Sanford-White-Watson

    Next year :

    Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson
    Greig-Stutzle-Boeser
    Formenton-Pinto-Brown
    Crookshank-White-Watson

Fantastic top-9 but it would cost much more than a 2nd and 3rd

What can we add? What are the Canucks need?

Could I interest you in a Lassi Thomson or Jacob Bernard-Docker?

    Lassi Thomson
    Erik Brannstrom
    2nd round pick in 2022
    2nd round pick in 2023

    If they can't keep Boeser

Mottes value as a great penalty killer isnt something the canucks can lose, and i doubt anyone would give a 2nd for him anyways. his salary wouldnt preclude him from resigning in vancouver.
Boeser would fetch much more than that- and how does trading a top line winger in his prime help the Canucks? Their cap situation isnt that bad that they couldnt resign him.
Copp isnt worth anywhere near $7m per.

2 firsts and 2 seconds... what is his value you think? Considering Eichel's return and everything? Considering Buchnevich, Reinhart, Arvidsson values?

Artem Zub but the thing is Ottawa needs him as much or even more. Dorion should have extended him long-term but what can you do, he was cut from the same cloth as Benning

If they can't extend him and he wants to sign something like 5-6 years in Vancouver, then the fit is there

Lassi Thomson or Jacob Bernard-Docker might become a top RHD but I would say they are more safe bets to be 2nd pairing RHDs. Ottawa will only need one of them and I think it's going to be :

Chabot - Zub (looked fantastic as a pairing)
    Sanderson - Bernard-Docker
    Kleven - ??????

I wouldn't mind having Thomson as the 3rd pairing RHD but like for Brannstrom (who is LD), it would be preventing him to reach his potential.

If you don’t want a player (Poolman) that just signed for 4x2.5, why do you think some other team would want him for a 3rd? Obviously you want to trade him because he’s really bad, you have to incentivize someone to take him by adding picks. Isles don’t need a RD defenceman either.

The Sens and Rangers trades are horrible too, why would Rangers trade a 2nd for Motte? And that Boeser trade is crazy, Boeser is worth way more than that.

Holy hell. 7 mil for copp?! 4 mil for Tierney?! Trade Boeser and Motte?! Is Benning still the GM in this dumpster fire of a scenario?
