That’s an extremely underwhelming return for Fleury retained and Murphy (who is signed long-term)

Very easy no for SJS. The way Hertl has played this year the conversation starts with Newhook.

SJS say no easy.
EJ blocks that trade and neither team would do it.
Murray is out till the spring.
MacDermid is very possibly the worst dman in the NHL and you have him in the top 4?

The Avs don’t need to score more what are they trying to become the Oilers of the 80’s here, what they need is health and continuity.

Newhook is a non starter but the sentiment is understandable.

Hertl is on track for a career year in goals. If SJ moves him it's going to be more expensive than originally thought before the season.

I don’t disagree but Newhook is an absolute non starter. Him and Byram on elc deals next year are going to afford the Avs to spend money elsewhere.

Yeah prospect strengths and needs don’t really align. I also think SJS can make the playoffs so I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t moved at all.

SJS rejects.

Second deal doesnt make sense as id rather have EJ > Murphy in a playoff run and while MAF is better than Francouz as a backup, not worth giving up a sure NHL dman prospect in Barron.
EJ brings the big, physical, shot blocking, veteran experience you need in a playoff run.
