First off, the Pens don't need Chiarot. It would be smarter to play Ruhwedel, Friedman, and POJ over him

Second, he stinks. He is legitimately terrible, but 95% of NHL GMs are not smart so someone will end up trading a 1st and another mid/high-value asset to get him.

He’s not… only way he returns a 1st is if some desperate GMs get into a bidding war over him at the TDL

All I know is Chairot was one of the better D in the playoffs last year and he plays more of a playoff style that we don't have on the backend. The price of a 1st is crazy so I figured a 2nd and a B level prospect (french) should help. I really don't believe in Ruh or Friedman to play in the post season and POJ is left handed and too inexperienced. Just a different look is all I was going for with this one.

ruhwedel has been perfect in his third pair role so far. in the playoffs he'll see other teams bottom 6 most of the time anyway so there's no point in this move. also him and matheson complement each other real well

"Perfect" in November and December during the dog days against Vancouver/Seattle is a lot different than vs Washington/Tampa/Boston/NYI in April/May is all that I'm suggesting. We have to acknowledge the difference in play during those periods whether we like it or not.
