GM Game Master Thread

OK. Here's a game that people can play if they want where people can pretend to be the GM of a team, and we can make trades and stuff as if it's the offseason (no vegas expansion trades until we get closer to the expansion draft, though you may talk about those trades). You may ask for a team, and i will give you that team if it isn't already taken. My favourite teams are the Rangers and Islanders tied, so i'll be the Islanders. Each person may only be the GM of one team.

Sorry but Phaneuf is old. His skill set doesn't match up to a 1st round pick. Still a good player but not the star worthy of a 1st

At his current contract, in this game, it will probably take you a 1st and decent prospect or player to get rid of him.
At 50% retained, you might be able to sell him as a 3rd pairing D man but don't expect an amazing player in return.
Using my own roster for example (not offering, just examples)

Phaneuf (50% retained) for ...
Moulson, but you might have to add a pick
Brouwer, you'd definitely have to add a pick
Shaw, contract wise probably about even, but I'd say you'd have to add a decent prospect

That's just some examples, in my opinion only. You'd have to find someone that judges him to have positive value at 50% first, which may be difficult.
At 100% salary, I would say he has a large negative value.

Well, as much as it pains me to say, I think it's time to find a replacement owner for the Anaheim Ducks.

I've done everything I feel I can do here and I just don't have any interest in the game anymore. It was fun when it started but I've lost interest in the last couple of weeks. I don't visit the site as much as I used to and that's just not fair to everyone else. The only reason I've held on to it for this long, is I didn't want someone to take over and bastardize the hell out of what I've done smile

I'm confident that the new owner will be pleased with what I've left for him/her.

Why would i have to add if i was taking salary in a Phaneuf-Moulson trade? Also, i would take back another bad contract in a Phaneuf trade. He's a top 4 defenseman, so if i took back more salary could i get a 1st?

yes, it's worse as Phaneuf is at least a top 4 defenseman even though he has a bad contract.

It might be just me. Either because I'm more accustomed to watching Price or because there is so much yellow and orange present that my eyes are bugging out, but Rinne looks so frenetic at times it worries me. Price is like a sloth compared to Rinne most of the time. Sticking Out Tongue

But seriously. That's a lot of yellow. I haven't seen that much yellow since the last time I watched Minions with my nieces.

Price is the best goalie in the world and nobody is even close. He makes the game look very easy.

I totally see what you're saying, Rinne and especially Bobrovsky in round one looked very jumpy and frenetic when playing against the Pens. Anderson generally looked cool and collected and I don't remember if Holtby was jumpy or chill. Maybe the Pens get into opposing goalies heads?

So are we just going to do BPA for Anaheim? Can we and move on? He's done, it's not like he'll care. And the new GM will be ill prepared to make the pick

While that's up to the BOG in the end, we are ahead of schedule and Anaheim's window is still open, so there's no need to rush.

Pick due at 11 AM tomorrow morning. I have no problem with being allowed to contact a BOG thru social media or email to get a pick secured in case of absence.
