If anything it will help them do better in the playoffs. Clendenning will hopefully get resigned and get regular playing time which he earned imo. It was a small sample size but he played really well when he had a chance
Clendening is like, a 7th or 8th defenseman. Girardi and Klein are top 4 guys i'd say.
I'm not saying Clendo is top 4 but he's definitely a top 6 guy that can be moved up and down the lineup as needed. Girardi and Klein have been declining for a while now. What helped Klein was his (lucky) offensive outburst the past few seasons.
I wouldn't call giving up countless shots against per game defense. Girardi leaks shots whenever he is on the ice
Girardi is like, top 10 in shot blocks.
In order to block a lot of shots, you have to let the other team take a lot of shots, which means giving/letting the other team have the puck more often, which Girardi does indeed do very well.

If shot blocks mean you are bad how is Karlsson 'the best d-man in the league'?

Tough question.
Might have a little something to do with being almost a point per game player from the blue line and pretty much carrying a sub-par Ottawa team to success on a fairly regular basis.
Hold on a sec and let me ask his two Norris trophies if they have any insight.

Yeah, but he shouldn't have won it in 2015, and maybe not in 2012 either. Not saying Girardi is better, i'm just saying that shot blocks, i think, tell a little bit, but not everything.
