That's the point of more years for a young player, to get them to sign for less.
6yrs @5mil?
Yes but the thing is, if that kid thinks he can get $6-7 on his next deal then why would he sign for so long at a low number. I think if you want to bridge him it will be a 2 year $5 per deal
As Vegas, can i sign free agents that are not part of a team and how will free agency work once this gets underway?
We're still trying to figure that out.
We won't see the official protected lists for a while. Are we mirroring those, or are we doing our own?
1. All teams need to be claimed and have a trade period before submitting their protected lists
2. Vegas gets 48 hours to outbid teams for their own UFA's (You can't bid on a protected UFA)
3. If Vegas wins a UFA from their original team, they don't get to pick a player from that team
4. Vegas gets a period of time (perhaps in the same 48 hours) to submit official trades related to expansion draft
5. Vegas makes their remaining selections after that period, including their official trade transactions
As it is right now, Vegas is going to be bored for a while. They'll only be able to evaluate, monitor, and discuss possible deals.
Vegas can keep busy sorting through possible offers and seeing what they want/need and who to target.

But they don't even need to come to this thread often until the expansion draft.
Rangers and Isles : i would be interested, but I am unsure how the Entry Draft is going to work for us. You are the Isles, correct
Yes, i want to make sure you don't take any of our D-Men cause we lose leddy or de-haan (whichever one you take in the expansion draft). I might trade though.
It's his first contract, he's only had 2 yrs in league and he's 23. I'd do 5, but he's not getting 6 yet. If I do a bridge deal he'd make far less per year, but cash out on his next deal
Then maybe a shorter contract (example: 2 yrs-4.5mil yr - 9mil total)
I would think something along the lines of 3 or 4 yrs x 4m per year is a fair deal.
Meaning, do I get the players that Vegas drafts, even though they wont have the same picks as me, or will I just be able to take whatever player is there
