Okay how about everyone submits a list of the top 10 players they would take at their position
So as an example, this is what it would look like
1. Crosby
2. Mcdavid
3. Kane
4. Stamkos
5. Tavares
6. Price
7. Eichel
8. Matthews
9. Laine
10. Burns
So when it comes time for that person to select, it would just take the 1st person on this list that's still available. So let's say I'm picking 5th and this is my list, let's say Crosby, Mcdavid, Price, and Burns were pick before I got the chance to pick, so looking at my list I have Kane as my #3 pick and since my #1 and #2 pick is off the board, I would get Kane.

That could get complicated with the people that are here keeping track of everyone's lists. I think we should just go with the real draft order unless someone says they want someone else with their pick.

Wait, are you saying we re-draft the NHL?
Yes. We are going to start the entire NHL over and do a basic fantasy game. Colorado selects McDavid 1st overall. Who's up next?
Everybody is not going to agree on one way to do the draft. I think we should find a ranking system or site that puts both the NA skaters and European skater in one list. The GM's all get to make their picks when it is their turn however if a GM isn't present or doesn't want to physically draft past the third round for example, the rest of their picks are done by the next best player available. The next best player available would be based off the list we decide on using. This gives GMs who want to go through all 7 rounds the option to do that and for the GMs who aren't able to draft or don't want to after a few rounds, they will get the next "best" player available based off the list. Just my 2 cents on the whole thing
That was sarcasm. Let everyone discuss and come up with a plan and we'll explain it to you once we have it figured out.
What do you mean? I'm just asking about what you're saying.
He's saying let the other GMs figure out what we think would be best then we will explain it to you after we decide.
Correct me if I'm wrong Ricochetii but I believe this is what you mean.

Wow, the Rangers are playing horrible. Now they're (pretty much) down 2-1 in the series.
And wow, the Blue Jackets are horrible. They'll get swept 4-0 by the pens.

Yep, Montreal wins. And the Rangers didn't even score a goal.
What if we did this -- we start a thread for the draft as soon as the lottery happens. Afterwards, we go pick by pick, no matter how long it takes. After a certain round we can just fill in the rest of the draft.

Might be a problem because some people are active only when there's a blue moon

Sure, but we should have a time limit. And we should do it after the expansion draft.

It has to be after the expansion draft because the draft lottery is after the expansion draft.

I like this idea. That way the time limit can be like a day or something

Well then it might take a while. How about ... hmm, i like the idea of making a list of your picks.
Who agrees that the Penguins have a 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% chance at sweeping the series against Columbus?
Also, let's say Colorado who's 1st overall picks Wayne Greatsky at 11:30 am. If LV is 2nd for example, they can pick Conner Mcdavhead at 11:35 am since Colorado already picked. This way we don't constantly have to wait for someone to pick. However, the deadline always stay the same. You just have to wait for the pick's time ahead of yours to expire or to be selected. If your pick expires, you get the next best player, or the best player on your submitted list.
