Backup Goalie

Created by: bluspy88
Team: 2021-22 Florida Panthers
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 15, 2021
Published: Dec. 15, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just exploring some potential back up solutions for Florida if they decide to send Knight to the AHL to reset, and/or Johansson isn't enough. Cap will be ****ed a bit, this is just gauging interest in different options. Also, stressing again that I'm not arguing for or against bringing in a goalie, just exploring who is available that isn't a starter/big name (Fleury mainly).

Since this is just a hypothetical/discussion thread, PLEASE don't read too much into the returns, they're just placeholders/starting points as I'm sure a contract or two could be thrown into a trade, especially the higher end ones like Korpisalo.

I also initially had Georgiev as an option but I doubt the Rangers want to assist an Eastern team.
Trades
1.
FLA
  1. Khudobin, Anton ($1,666,666 retained)
DAL
  1. 2022 6th round pick (CGY)
2.
FLA
  1. Greiss, Thomas ($1,800,000 retained)
DET
Would also be the 6th rounder I'd imagine.
    3.
    FLA
    1. Jones, Martin ($1,000,000 retained)
    PHI
Also a 6th lately, maybe a 5th. Also depends if the Flyers think they're in or out.
      4.
      PIT
      1. 2022 5th round pick (FLA)
      Additional Details:
This or the 6th. If Pittsburgh falls off could be a piece moved.
      5.
      VAN
      1. 2022 4th round pick (FLA)
      Additional Details:
Could be a lower pick too. Depends what's up with Vancouver.
      6.
      FLA
      1. Anderson, Craig
      Additional Details:
If healthy by TDL of course.

I think a 6th would probably do it, unless Greiss remembers how to play goalie before the TDL.

I'm a fan of a different team (Flyers actually), so I try to tread lightly when looking at other teams. What's been up with him?

I’d like to think Dobby is worth a slightly better pick with that much salary retention. I could be wrong tho

If Vancouver is out of the playoff picture close to the TDL they would/should take that offer. Fair value.

You could be right, I could see it bumping to a 5th mayyyybe a 4th. But, his play does seem to be down a bit, so Dallas may just take what they can get at this point.

Yeah I think if Halak keeps playing as well as he has been, it could be a good deal for both sides. Not that I want anything to happen to Bob, even as a Flyers fan who wants them to make it, but imagine another crazy Halak run...

Seems like a good thought, to get an experienced goalie, and hopefully good enough in the short term for the playoff run. There are lots available as you suggest as out of playoff teams do have some UFAs goalies available. If I'm Florida, I take the the "best goalie", even if costs as much as a second rounder. Halak seems like a great option.

Detroit isn't wasting one of their two remaining retention slots for a measly 6th round pick!

If they wanna move Greiss to a contender, that cap hit is too much. Most I can see them getting is a 5th unless he plays better.

        Utterly irrelevant!

Detroit have two retention slots and five players likely being traded at the deadline. The two retention slots will be used on the two trades where they get the best return and that will not be on a 6th round pick!
