Chychrun blockbuster

Created by: Yotes269
Team: 2021-22 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 15, 2021
Published: Dec. 15, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kassian, turris, and Barrie are dumps to get salary to work. Barrie is redundant when adding chychrun, lybushkin is a stay at home RD that’s RFA who could help Edmonton a lot. Kessel and galchenyuk add scoring depth up front. Broberg, Holloway, and the 1st are the price for chychrun, taking on salary in kassian and Barrie, plus the picks and lower tier prospect being sent to Edmonton. Oilers make their win now move and shore up the D while adding depth scoring, Arizona takes on the prospects. Win-win

Wayyyyy too much going on man and holloway is untouchable

I feel like a package of broberg+2022 first or barrie,samurkov,2022 first and conditional 2023 second (which turns into a first if Edmonton makes the conference finals) is much simpler and overall easier to evaluate

I feel like Edmonton is going to want off the kassian and Barrie contracts in the offseason anyways, if you can replace them now with players that likely fit better I don’t see why not now. Holloway was a wish to get in there, but I don’t think the price is going to be anywhere near what people would find acceptable so I think this package probably reflects reality better than anything. I don’t think they’re moving him in season, but the price would be exuberant

The only untouchables are Holloway and Bouchard. Everyone else is fair game. I say that because they still need guys on ELCs but that can produce. I'd offer:

Broberg
Bourgault
2022 1st
Conditional 2022 2nd (some kind of Cup Win/appearance condition)
B prospect such as Tullio or Kemp

Throw Yamamoto into the conversation as well.

I think that is definitely fair. Add Yamamoto to it and then add the kassian and turris contract to even it?

I get the "Holloway is untouchable" thing for Edmonton fans. 'Bertaaaaa baby!

What I will say, is that if Edmonton is unwilling to include their top prospect, I'd imagine that someone will. @eberles_backcheck's deal is probably fine, but Arizona has a ton of picks...Gotta think if they're moving Chych, they'd want the best possible prospect they can get. If that's Broberg/Bourgault, great, but if it were me, I'd set my price, and hold off until someone meets it. Absolutely no rush to move him.

I'm gonna be a dissenting opinion here buy why does AZ do this? Why is Arizona including Kessel into this trade when they could sell him separately for more assets? Why is Az including ANY picks at all? Why is AZ taking on Kassian? I think Holloway is a very nice prospect but the EDM fans on here acting like he's untouchable.. c'mon you'd be getting a norris caliber defenseman at 4.6 million... are you unaware of how much you just signed Nurse for?? Chychrun is better than Nurse at half the cost you're gonna have the pay up for him. Also Broberg is again a nice prospect but he's no sure thing.

I don't think this deal works for either party as constructed but I also don't understand EDM fans who think they could get Chychrun for a late 1st rounder, Yamamoto (who can't score despite playing with 2 nuclear weapons) and a B level prospect

Yea, there definitely needs to be $ going back. Turris + Kassian, or Barrie. So to summarize:

Barrie
Broberg
Bourgault
2022 1st
2023 Conditional 2nd
Kemp

Sign me up.

Okay, untouchable is maybe the wrong word. My point is, to manage the cap, Holloway is key because he is the most NHL ready and would be on the roster right now if he wasn't hurt. Plus he's on an ELC. That is why he would be hard to move. Maybe Bourgault is ready by next year and he can be that guy then.

For sure. I don't disagree, I just think that *if* Chychrun is actually available, there's going to be a long, long lineup to get him, and I'd imagine there'll be a team that is willing to give up a Holloway-type prospect.

It depends what the rest of the deal looks like then. Is a team giving up their Top Prospect plus all the other stuff? If so, then ya, no brainer for AZ.

I'd guess 1st+top prospect+young NHLer...assuming that the 1st would be 20+OA
