I don’t think Strome will be effective in that role and the contract will become an anchor.

COL declines.
3rd round pick for declining Bonino 4pts in 29 games and only 3pts in last 17 playoff games doesnt move the needle for a playoff rental

His role is to be a purely defensive center (and he wouldn't be a rental, still has another year on his deal). Excels in that role, great locker room trustworthy veteran playoff guy who's great on the PK. COL would be wise to bring in a guy like him for a year since they won't resign Kadri who'll be too expensive to resign, but COL's just a placeholder. There'd be playoff teams out there who'd be glad to have Bonino for a year as their defensive 4C for 2mil.

no I don't think so; I'd say he has no value pretty much so a 5th would do. He's a solid shutdown guy who's actually looked really solid the last two games because he's been really physical which is something the Sharks often lack. We have no room on the left side defensively. (Ferraro, Vlasic, Middleton, Knyzhov, Kniazev)

Hatakka too. I agree with that assessment on Simek's value as well.

If they retain 50% then maybe. It's an easy pass at his full salary though. Too much other business to take care of over the next couple seasons.

I'd agree with others that I don't think Bonino nets you a third right now but I could be wrong. I do agree with what you say about him though, you're not bringing him in for his points etc. More the defensive side and intangibles.
