Do we though. Are we taking Zucker and all that crap just to get Marino for Boeser? I still reject with Marino in the deal I think. It is close though.

More like swap Zucker for Marino, but Vancouver's 3rd round pick shouldn't be there either. It should be Boeser for a package surrounding Marino. I know I know, top 4 defenseman are typically more valuable than top six wingers from a positional relation, but I do believe Boeser is a franchise caliber winger, while Marino hasn't quite solidified himself as a top pairing defenseman yet, but he's certainly a quality top 4 D-man, that much can be said about him thus far. You know, considering Marino refused to sign with Edmonton, the team that drafted him, much like Adam Fox with Calgary and later Carolina, I'm honestly suspicious of whether or not Marino would even be willing to suite up for a Canadian team, despite the fact that he can't have trade protection being in an RFA year

I would trade Boeser for Marino straight personally. My biggest concern was taking cap dumps. Marino is signed for another 5 seasons after this on a good contract. He'll play where he's told to play. Top 4 RD are so hard to find and Marino is on a great deal. On the surface it might seem like Boeser is worth more but I really think this would play out as a steal for the Canucks. Boeser I feel has lost a step, and I fear its because of the back injury he sustained his rookie yr. He hasn't been as dynamic since. Also I disagree that he is a franchise winger. Those are rare and their names are Kane, Huberdeau, Rantanen, Marner, Marchand, Kucherov. Boeser isn't even close to that. Hell JT Miller isn't even a franchise winger and he's twice the player Boeser is.

Boeser just had a strong 2 goal game, I'm still of the mind of don't count your chickens before they hatch. If he doesn't quite compare to the names you listed, which is a fair argument, but I would still argue he isn't far off. Don't get me wrong, Marino is super super tempting throw an offer at Hextall and co. over in the burgh, but forgive me if I'm a little hesitant to just deal Boeser at this point, because while he's been a little bit inconsistent over his career, I'm not at the point where I feel comfortable giving up on his fit in Vancouver, if that makes sense

That's fair. And I will say the goals he's scored the last couple games were the type of goals he was scoring his rookie yr. Pure sniper shots that only 10-20 guys in the whole league can do. So I guess we'll see how he does under Beaudreau. If he does fall back to that lumbering player we've seen this season previously I'd try to maximize my asset before the league catches on. Top 4 RD are not made available often and its the Canucks biggest need is why I'd be willing to even take a loss on the trade (on the surface of it).

Definitely how I would like for JR to manage that. I really do believe that it was Travis Green's tighter system that was holding not just Boeser but many Canuck players back this season, and now Gabby has loosened them all up and they've all greatly benefitted from it
