Agreed, we're not taking 2+ mil for a 3rd and 5th especially when LW is probably one of the deepest spots.

We have no interest in Kerfoot and you are asking a division rival to overpay for him when he will be pending UFA.

Try again.

Kerfoot has been a legit top 6 forward this year. A 3rd round pick for that is a ridiculously low price. Leafs would be dumb to make that trade. Kerfoot is on pace for 45+ points this year with absolutely no powerplay time and has been a solid defensive player this year and in past. You’re the same guy who said Nick Paul would cost a 2nd and decent prospect but also says that Kerfoot isn’t worth a 3rd?? Where’s the logic in that. Paul is a very solid bottom 6 piece, don’t get me wrong, but Kerfoot is a top 6 forward with an extra year of contract and better production

1. The author of this post wants more than just a 3rd round pick for Kerfoot.

2. I was not the one that said Nick Paul would cost a 2nd and a decent prospect.

That was @sens65.

3. I do, in fact, think Kerfoot is worth a 3rd round pick.

If you look at the Kerfoot trade with Colorado from Canada Day 2019, this is what people should take away from it:

A. Pending UFA Tyson Barrie with 50% salary retention --- for --- Nazem Kadri

B. Colorado's 6th round pick for 2020 --- for --- Calle Rosen

C. Alex Kerfoot --- for --- Toronto's 3rd round pick for 2020

4. Saying Kerfoot will have an extra year of contract in 2022-2023, which is when this post takes place, is misleading.

In 2022-2023, Kerfoot will have a cap hit of 3.5 million, a list of 10 teams to which he can not be traded and 1.95 million in signing bonus money.

Nick Paul for 2021-2022 has a cap hit of 1.35 million and has no trade protection or signing bonus money whatsoever.

Ottawa says no, but something could be worked out, maybe.

It isn't that Kerfoot isn't worth a 3rd (probably not a 3rd +), but Ottawa is flush with left shot forwards.

Kerfoot is a very good 3rde line forward that can move up for short periods of time. Tierney and Brown are similar types, 3rd line guys who can play up the lineup, as long as it isn't for too long. The Kerfoot AAV might be $3.5MM, but his salary is only $750K after the bonus, which will have been paid. I value Brown the highest of these three, and prior to this year I would have said Tierney ahead of Kerfoot, but that may have changed.

Ottawa isn't the right team to trade Kerfoot to, Ottawa's top9 next season;
Tkachuk Norris Batherson
Sokolov Stützle White
Formenton Pinto Brown

If Ottawa did trade fr Kerfoot, a 3rd is probably fine, but no 5th, and no playoff stipulation upgrading to a 2nd, because it isn't Kerfoot who would push Ottawa into the playoffs, he'd be along for the ride.

Side note, although there is talk White might be bought out at 1/3 cost next summer, it isn't guaranteed. He's a right shot forward who can play centre, and is best friends with Chabot. They aren't going to buy him out unless they absolutely have to.
