Kerfoot has been a legit top 6 forward this year. A 3rd round pick for that is a ridiculously low price. Leafs would be dumb to make that trade. Kerfoot is on pace for 45+ points this year with absolutely no powerplay time and has been a solid defensive player this year and in past. You’re the same guy who said Nick Paul would cost a 2nd and decent prospect but also says that Kerfoot isn’t worth a 3rd?? Where’s the logic in that. Paul is a very solid bottom 6 piece, don’t get me wrong, but Kerfoot is a top 6 forward with an extra year of contract and better production
1. The author of this post wants more than just a 3rd round pick for Kerfoot.
2. I was not the one that said Nick Paul would cost a 2nd and a decent prospect.
That was

3. I do, in fact, think Kerfoot is worth a 3rd round pick.
If you look at the Kerfoot trade with Colorado from Canada Day 2019, this is what people should take away from it:
A. Pending UFA Tyson Barrie with 50% salary retention --- for --- Nazem Kadri
B. Colorado's 6th round pick for 2020 --- for --- Calle Rosen
C. Alex Kerfoot --- for --- Toronto's 3rd round pick for 2020
4. Saying Kerfoot will have an extra year of contract in 2022-2023, which is when this post takes place, is misleading.
In 2022-2023, Kerfoot will have a cap hit of 3.5 million, a list of 10 teams to which he can not be traded and 1.95 million in signing bonus money.
Nick Paul for 2021-2022 has a cap hit of 1.35 million and has no trade protection or signing bonus money whatsoever.
