Is Armia a cap dump now

Created by: MisstheWhalers

Initial Creation Date: Dec. 17, 2021

Description
Would Montreal cough up a pick or something to dump Armia? Or does he still have some value even though he's having a rough season?

I think he's a good player having a rough season on a crappy team, think he could be of use to the Jets since they have few right hand shots, he brought out the best in Lowry, has size and kills penalties, I wouldn't mind bringing him back, really liked him when he was a Jet.

Anyway let me know in the comments, thanks.

Why would Montreal do that, even if Armia was a cap dump, we don't need the cap space and are most likely entering a rebuild

This question was asked by a reporter from the Athletic to 5 recruiters from other NHL teams. Here is the answer, check out the description in the following link.

Idk, just to get rid of him and open up cap space for free agency.

Maybe down the road but not yet. He played his best hockey ever in the Finals run last season. He's suffering offensively mainly because of his linemates. The only players he's spent 100 minutes on the ice with are Lehkonen, Chiarot, Savard, Kulak, Evans and this year's version of Petry.

However it would be hilarious that Armia was acquired by MTL from WPG in a cap dump trade, and then traded as a cap dump from MTL to WPG.

I don't mind Armia, but he is paid too much for too long as a 4th liner. Winnipeg should pass.

Yeah, not yet. He's inconsistent but a rare big body on the team, and in his prime age. He can be effective in the right circumstances. He's a bit overpaid but his contract is not the one that will sink the Habs. I think he'll be traded before his contract is up, maybe at a loss for the Habs, but not yet

Value from the 5 polled scouts was a 4th round pick for Armia

No he's not. He doesn't produce enough. Armia produces at the same rate as Lowry, who you call a 4th liner and hate. Plus Armia makes more. The Jets have enough bottom 6 guys that can't produce. They don't need another expensive one.

i think the value is really good just that the habs won't do it because they don't want to part with a pick.

Habs aren't giving up a pick to dump Army, but if you want him - he's yours.

YOOO, this year version of Petry is the most accurate thing... What the hell is happening with him.

I'd love to bring Armia back to the Jets. He would fit that 3RW spot perfectly. I don't think he's a cap dump, I'd pay around a 3rd for him maybe?

I think its a "we arent going to pay you to take him" but if the return is minimal or the cost to move him is only a late pick etc. they probably would do it just to free up money.

I doubt the Sabres trade Pysyk due to their absolute lack of depth on the right side, especially if they trade Miller who should fetch more.

Pysyk is worth more, he looked good this season. Buffalo would make sense to re-sign him.

I don't think he is actually but have seen some comments on here about how no GM would touch his contract so I thought I'd pose the question.
