Description
If we kept draft picks and/or picked different people instead.

I would say this is a pretty good team Russian power house

This team keeps some players that we acquired in a trade others it gets rid of to give the drafted players spots

Clairvoyance should be part of a head scout's job description

Playing the "we should have drafted x player" is never a fun road to go down, the Caps won a cup and who is to say any of those moves could have resulted in the Caps not winning theirs?

Here are some other hindsight choices:
Batherson, one pick after Geisser in 2017
Anybody but Lucas Johansen in 2016 (Kyrou, DeBrincat, Steel, Girard, etc.)
      Bertuzzi over Bowey in 2013

When a player becomes a draft steal, it's because everybody passed on them. Leads to a lot of hindsight picks like this. Luckily for the caps they've drafted great from 2012-2015 and it resulted in them becoming a powerhouse.

imagine how cups they would have if they drafted Getzlaf instead of Fehr... drafted literally one spot different

At least with Bowey we got Nick Jensen out of it…?

Can’t find many other positives in the players you just named.

And with him on the team you probably would have won too many games and lost out on drafting Backstrom and got Brassard instead. Don't play this game man, the 2003 draft alone could have made juggernauts if you could redraft just that one season.

Boston tried to give Washington the 5th overall (Kessel) and a 3rd to move up to draft Backy lol could you imagine how different ovechkin career would have been

Capitals imo have killed it drafting in the last 3-4 years

      Fehervary (2nd) Alexeyev (late 1st)
MCM (late 1st) Protas (3rd rd) Leason (2nd) imo he will he a great bottom 6 guy
Lappy (late) Trineyev (4th) looks like he could turn into something ... solid MHL numbers.
Iorio ... love that pick!!! Johnson also addressed a pipeline need

lol know. i love him so much... He's so underrated he quietly averages 70-80 points a year and rarely gets looked at as elite
