Weber gone and other moves

Description
Just my opinion on what could happen during off season. This may not be the best team but it's not a total gut job - which to me is not likely to happen. But, I'm not in the room or in management so this could all be different if guys like Petry/Gally/Price want out.

I don't really care what you people think...half of the comments on this site are B.S. anyway!! We're fans of our teams and always want the best but at the end of the day, we don't actually make the trades or signings. All are info comes from past trades or signings as comparables. Bottom line, it all comes down to supply and demand but every player has some value. It's just a matter of finding the right fit and accepting lesser value in return.

Goodnight!!

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Johansen, Ryan
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (NSH)
Additional Details:
They got Duchene has 1C then Granlund 2C followed by Glass 3C. GIving them Evans who can be their 4C. MTL then gets their 1C who can take pressure on Suzuki.
NSH
  1. Evans, Jake
  2. Mysak, Jan
  3. Weber, Shea
  4. 2022 3rd round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Habs make a decision on Weber that he'll never play again. Sending him back to NSH so they can avoid recapture penalty, maybe convince him to not file the paperwork and place him on LTIR.
2.
MTL
  1. 2022 1st round pick (MTL)
ARI
  1. 2022 1st round pick (CAR)
3.
MTL
  1. Benson, Tyler [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Haven't watched a lot of Oilers' games but don't think he's getting much ice time. Maybe EDM is willing to part with him. MTL could use more depth at LW.
EDM
  1. Allen, Jake
Additional Details:
They'll need to replace Koskinen and Allen/Smith could be a decent tandem. And Allen is almost half the cap hit to Koskinen.
4.
MTL
  1. 2024 4th round pick (ARI)
ARI
  1. Armia, Joel
  2. Hillis, Cameron
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (ANA)
  4. 2022 7th round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
I know ARI is rebuilding but they'll need to put a decent roster on the ice next season. Armia can be serviceable middle 6/bottom 6 winger. Sending picks and Hillis as most on the site will consider Armia as a cap dump (i don't for the record). Doesn't cost much for Coyotes.
5.
MTL
  1. Boltmann, Jake [Reserve List]
  2. Heineman, Emil [Reserve List]
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Trade done at the draft. Maybe he moves at the deadline but I think this return is fair. MTL could use the pick and prospects.
CGY
  1. Toffoli, Tyler
Additional Details:
CGY gets a top 6 winger to maybe replace Gaudreau or Tkachuk if one of them leaves. And Toffoli won a cup under Sutter in LA. Would be a good fit imo.

Your scenario is wrong.. The Montreal Canadians Hockey does not decide if Weber ever plays again. That's up to Weber and doctors.
If Weber cannot play for medical reasons as determined by NHL doctors, then he goes on LTIR and it doesn't affect Nashville's recapture penalty.
If Weber can play medically and wants to play, the Habs are on the hook for his 7.8m cap.
If Weber decides to retire, then Nashville is on the hook for some recapture. But it doesn't make that much difference if Weber is a Hab or Pred. The recapture penalty is based up the front loaded contract, and in Weber's case, Nashville paid well over the 7.8m cap in actual dollars, early in the contract.

honestly not bad.

might be better to trade lehky and use the money and assets to get a puck moving defenseman.

I’d imagine Preds just want to get out of Johansen/Duchenes contract, too. Nice piece of work.
